WHAT'S HAPPENING AT
WITHERS?
NOTE FROM PRINCIPAL MILLER
We will begin the 3rd nine-week grading period on Monday. If you would like your
child to return to campus, please notify the teacher. The school will not send out a
survey this nine-week grading period. We strongly encourage struggling students to
return for face-to-face instruction. The students on campus are making a lot of gains
from the personal interaction. Withers safety protocols are working, and our COVID
positive percentage rate is low. We are available to answer any concerns you
may have about returning to campus.
It is important to keep your child home if they are in close contact or not feeling well.
All students showing COVID-like symptoms will be sent home for 14 days to
quarantine. They may return to campus if they have a negative PCR COVID test or an
alternate diagnosis of illness from a physician. Please send an email to Nurse
Burns (aburns@dallasisd.org) if you have been exposed or test positive for COVID.
UPCOMING DATES
Friday, Jan 29th – Last Day of the 2nd 9-week period
All required assignments must be submitted to receive a grade for the marking period.
Check with your child’s teacher or Powerschool for any missing assignments.
Tuesday, Feb 2nd – 7 PM - DAD’S CLUB VIRTUAL MEETING
Friday, Feb 5th – NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY
Cardiovascular disease claims the lives of 1 in 3 women. Wear red to increase women’s
heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women
globally.
Tuesday, Feb 9th – 7 PM - EXECUTIVE PTA VIRTUAL MEETING
Friday, Feb 12th – CLASS VALENTINE’S DAY PARTIES at 2 PM
Due to COVID restrictions, volunteers will not be permitted to attend the parties. The
homeroom parents will send out suggested items to bring for the party. All Valentine
cards, goodies, etc. will need to be sent to school on Friday, Feb 5th. This will allow the
items to quarantine before distributing to the students.
NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION & DUAL LANGUAGE
New student enrollment has started. The district has opened our campus for transfers, but we
are very limited on open spots. Parents interested in applying for the 2021-2022 school should
go to www.dallasisd.org/choosedallasisd. Our school is listed alphabetically under Harry C.
Withers. The deadline to apply is Sunday, Feb 7th.
We will have the dual-language lottery on Tuesday, Feb 16th at 2:30 PM. You do not need to be
present to secure your spot in the dual-language program.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Monday, Feb 15th – Howdy Homemade
Join us for ice cream on President’s Day from 1 – 9 PM. They are opening special just for
Withers! It’s a holiday and the perfect day to enjoy some ice cream with your friends from Withers.

¿QUÉ ESTÁ PASANDO
EN WITHERS?
NOTA DE LA DIRECTORA MILLER...
Comenzaremos el tercer período de calificaciones de nueve semanas el lunes. Si desea
que su hijo regrese a la escuela, notifique al maestro. La escuela no enviará una encuesta
durante este período de calificaciones de nueve semanas. Recomendamos
encarecidamente a los estudiantes con dificultades, que regresen para recibir instrucción
cara a cara. Los estudiantes en el campus están obteniendo muchos beneficios de la
interacción personal. Los protocolos de seguridad de Withers están funcionando y nuestra
tasa de porcentaje positivo de COVID es baja. Estamos disponibles para responder
cualquier inquietud que pueda tener acerca de regresar al campus.
Es importante mantener a su hijo en casa si tiene un contacto cercano o si no se siente
bien. Todos los estudiantes que muestren síntomas similares a COVID serán enviados a

Viernes, 5 de febrero - DÍA NACIONAL DE VESTIR DE ROJO
La enfermedad cardiovascular cobra la vida de 1 de cada 3 mujeres. Vístase de rojo para aumentar
la concientización sobre la salud cardíaca de las mujeres y servir como catalizador del cambio para
mejorar la vida de las mujeres a nivel mundial.
Martes, 9 de febrero - 7 p.m. - REUNIÓN EJECUTIVA VIRTUAL DEL PTA
Viernes 12 de febrero – FIESTAS EN EL SALON DEL DÍA DE SAN VALENTÍN a las 2:00 p.m.
Debido a las restricciones de COVID, no se permitirá que los voluntarios asistan a las fiestas. Los
padres del salón de clases enviarán artículos sugeridos para llevar a la fiesta. Todas las tarjetas de
San Valentín, obsequios, etc. deberán enviarse a la escuela el viernes 5 de febrero. Esto permitirá
que los elementos se pongan en cuarentena antes de distribuirlos a los estudiantes.
REGISTRO DE NUEVO ESTUDIANTE & LENGUAJE DUAL:
Ha comenzado la inscripción de nuevos estudiantes. El distrito ha abierto nuestro campus para
transferencias, pero tenemos muy pocas plazas abiertas. Los padres interesados en someter
solicitud para el año escolar 2021-2022 deben visitar www.dallasisd.org/choosedallasisd. Nuestra
escuela está listada alfabéticamente bajo Harry C. Withers. La fecha límite para meter solicitud es el
7 de febrero. Tendremos la lotería del programa dual el 16 de febrero a las 2:30 p.m. No es
necesario que esté presente para asegurar su lugar en el programa de dos idiomas.
RECAUDACIÓN DE FONDOS

Únase a nosotros para tomar un helado el Día de los Presidentes de 1 a 9 p.m. ¡Estáran abriendo
especialmente solo para Withers! Es un día festivo y el día perfecto para ir a disfrutar de un helado
con todos tus amigos de Withers.

CONFERENCIAS DE PADRES Y PROFESORES
Lunes, 22 de febrero - Las conferencias de padres y maestros se llevarán a cabo en
formato virtual. Los maestros enviarán un horario a medida que se acerque la fecha.
