celebration of the 19th EPA Congress the most important international parking and
mobility event in Europe. The Congress’ theme is entitled Key solutions for urban
mobility and it will cover all matters of current interest of our business activity and

El 19º Congreso y Exposición
Europeo de Parking Málaga
Queridos amigos,
En 2019, la EPA celebrará 36 años de actividad y celebrará su 19º Congreso y
Exposición Internacional. La Asociación ha recorrido un largo camino, creciendo
en tamaño, actividad y estatura, y hoy en día el Congreso de la EPA es sin duda el
evento internacional de estacionamiento y movilidad más importante de Europa.
En 2019, el Congreso alcanzará un nuevo nivel y marcará un cambio estratégico
en el desarrollo de la EPA. La EPA, junto con ASESGA, la Asociación Española
de Estacionamientos que organizará el evento, está haciendo todos los esfuerzos
posibles para garantizar que el Congreso sea un evento que valga la pena, que
sea agradable y memorable.
El tema del Congreso se titula Soluciones clave para la movilidad urbana y
cubrirá todos los asuntos de interés actual de nuestra actividad comercial y las
amenazas y oportunidades del futuro. Examinaremos la situación general del es-
tacionamiento y la movilidad urbana en Europa, lo que nos permitirá abordar pro-
blemas más amplios de movilidad urbana junto con asuntos detallados del esta-
cionamiento, lo que indicará que el estacionamiento no es un gran problema, sino

The 19th European Parking Congress
and Exhibition Malaga
Dear friends and colleagues,
in 2019 EPA will celebrate 36 years of activity and will be holding its 19th Interna-
tional Congress and Exhibition. The Association has come a long way, growing in
size, activity and stature, and today the EPA Congress is unquestionably the most
important international parking and mobility event in Europe. In 2019 the Congress
will reach a new level and will mark a strategic change in EPA’s development. EPA
together with ASESGA, the Spanish Parking Association who will be hosting the
event, is making every effort to ensure the Congress is a worthwhile, enjoyable and
a memorable event.
The Congress’ theme is entitled Key solutions for urban mobility and it will cover
all matters of current interest of our business activity and the threats and oppor-
tunities of the future. We will be examining the overall parking and urban mobility
situation in Europe enabling us to address wider issues of urban mobility along-
side detailed parking matters, indicating that parking is not a huge problem, but
a huge opportunity. The exhibition will have interactive areas where visitors can
experience simulated realities. The electrical smart city development in Malaga

indications on themes indicated by the Scientific and Technical Committee for the
Congress program.
Malaga, located in the warm Mediterranean Coast, is a place of contrasts bet-

Málaga city tour
Friday, September 20
Make the iconic Calle Larios, Málaga’s main shopping street where the world’s
leading brands have their stores, your starting point. Next, follow it as far as Plaza
de la Constitución, the heart of the city’s historical quarter.
From there head west, down Calle Compañía to the Palacio de Villalón (16th
century), home of the Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga (Málaga’s Carmen Thys-
sen Museum), the first goal of the route. The Museum that opened in March 2011
displays a permanent collection of over 200 works by Spanish artists of the 19th
century and mainly focuses on Andalusian painting.
Now head east and take Calle Santa Mara, which leads straight to the Cathedral
and the Museo Catedralicio (Cathedral Museum). Although work on the Cathedral
began during the Gothic period (16th century) on the old Arab mosque, the building
is in the Renaissance style and is still unfinished. The missing south tower has
earned the building the popular nickname “La Manquita” (One-Armed). There is a
beautiful example of Málaga’s baroque architecture opposite the cathedral: Plaza
del Obispo and Palacio Episcopal (Bishop’s Palace; 1762).
You will end in Calle Alcazabilla by going along Calle Císter along the back of
the Cathedral where you will find the next place of interest: The Alcazaba, which,
together with the Gibralfaro Castle, is one of the most important monuments of the
city.

Ronda city tour

We will start this tour at the Paseo Blas Infante and we will head towards the
Ernest Hemingway Promenade where we will see the sculpture that was made in
honor of the American writer and his declared love to Spain.
While we get to know the stories and curiosities of this city of Malaga, we will
visit the main places of Ronda such as the famous New Bridge, from where we
can enjoy spectacular views of the Tajo de Ronda and the balconies of the hanging
houses.
We will continue through the city along Tenorio Street and its stately homes,
until we reach the House of Don Bosco. We will pass through the Plaza de María
Auxiliadora from where we can visit the Mirador de Campillo.
Our walking tour will take us to the Mondragón Palace, one of the most important

Duquesa de Parcent, where we will find four different churches (Santa María de
la Encarnación, Santa Isabel de los Angeles, La Caridad and María Auxiliadora).
We will finish our tour in the Plaza de España, after having passed through the
Plaza de Toros where the traditional Goyesca Corrida is celebrated.

The Gorge Desfiladero de los Gaitanes is a natural beauty spot, placed in the
centre of the province, between the towns of Alora, Antequera and Ardales. This
is one of the most beautiful spots of the Malaga Mountains. Between its steep and
considerably high walls, the River Guadalhorce flows, after having passed through
the reservoirs El Chorro (The Spurt), Guadalhorce, Guadalteba and Gaitanejo.
The Gaitanes Gorge is a canyon, carved by the river Guadalhorce in the terri-
tory of Álora, which at some points is only 10 meters wide and 700 meters deep.
The nothern access to it is via Guadalhorce reservoirs and the southern is via El
Chorro.
The construction of a water channel from the reservoirs in the north to El Chorro,
which was meant to make the most of the slope in a hydroelectric power station,
was carried out together with a path for maintaining the channel.
This one is known as El Caminito del Rey Path (The Kings’s Little Pathway) be-
cause it was first opened by King Alfonso XIII. This path, about 3 kilometers long,
has just been refurbished, and it goes along vertical walls and a footbridge over the
gorge on the same waterway.

llowing in the footsteps of its long past we will take a walk through its historic
center, where monumental jewels such as the citadel or the church of San Juan

was built on an old mosque at the end of the 15th century. It has suffered different

The bell tower of the church is the minaret of that old mosque. The Palace of the

ling in its imperial staircase. It is the most important civil building in Vélez-Málaga,
for its beauty and grandeur. Among many other unique monuments of this town.

Málaga se ha convertido en una auténtica Ciudad de Mu-
seos. Con un total de 37, la mayoría de ellos concentrados
en el Centro Histórico, la convierten en una de las ciudades
con mayor densidad de museos en su casco antiguo.
De pinturas, de flamenco, de Semana Santa, de trans-
porte aéreo, de artes y costumbres, arqueológicos, tauri-
nos… La variedad museística en la ciudad de Málaga está
asegurada.
MUSEO PICASSO MALAGA.
Debido a su repercusión a nivel mundial, el Museo Picas-
so es uno de los mejores museos de la ciudad de Málaga.
Situado en la ciudad natal del pintor, que vino al mundo
en 1881, el Museo Picasso alberga una colección perma-
nente que muestra ocho décadas de su trabajo. Además,
la existencia de exposiciones temporales añaden valor al
ya importantísimo Museo Picasso. El museo nace por el
deseo del genio malagueño de tener un espacio expositivo
en la ciudad donde nació. Un total de 233 obras conforman
la colección, en la que se muestran 80 años del trabajo del
pintor (1892-1972). Picasso es considerado como el artista
más importante del siglo XX.
Podrás contemplar sus obras en las 11 salas del museo,
en las que además de su pintura, disfrutarás de obras de
varias disciplinas. El museo se instaló en el Palacio de los
Condes de Buenavista, un edificio declarado Monumento
Nacional en 1939. Fue inaugurado en octubre de 2003.
MUSEO CASA NATAL DE PICASSO.
El edificio en el que Pablo Picasso nació en 1881 y en el
que vivió hasta 1884 alberga obras y objetos personales
del artista y de su familia. Una biblioteca especializada y
un continuo programa de exposiciones temporales y ac-
tividades culturales complementan la oferta de la Casa
Natal de Picasso.
La primera incorporación importante se realiza en 1989
con la carpeta de grabados “Sueño y mentira de Franco”,
a la que le siguen libros ilustrados por el pintor donados
por su familia. Actualmente hay más de 50 libros ilustrados
por Picasso u otros artistas como Miró, Chagall o Marx
Ernst.
Destacan también los cuadernos de dibujos prepara-
torios para la obra “Las señoritas de Aviñón” que marcó
el comienzo de su “Periodo africano” o “Protocubismo”,
iniciando el movimiento artístico del cubismo, del que Pi-
casso es su máximo exponente. Los 84 dibujos se com-
plementan con un repertorio de la obra gráfica que van
desde 1905 a 1971.
Dispone también de una colección de 238 litografías
realizadas entre 1930 y 1960. De gran interés son las 34
piezas de cerámica creadas entre 1940 y 1946. El Museo
Casa Natal ha conseguido reunir más de 4.000 piezas de
unos 200 artistas diferentes.

MUSEO CARMEN THYSSEN MALAGA.
En el centro histórico de Málaga se encuentra el Museo
Carmen Thyssen. Es considerado uno de los 10 mejores
museos de la ciudad de Málaga.
Este hace un recorrido por los diferentes géneros de la
pintura española y andaluza de los siglos XIX y XX. Lo hace
a través de 285 obras que forman parte de la colección Car-
men Thyssen-Bornemisza.
Además, el Museo Carmen Thyssen cuenta con una
planta dedicada a exposiciones temporales. El Museo se
sitúa en el palacio de Villalón, y fue inaugurado el 24 de
marzo del 2011. Fue la baronesa viuda Carmen Thyssen
quien cediera su colección a la ciudad de Málaga para la
apertura del mismo.
En un acuerdo inicial, la institución dispondrá de las pin-
turas hasta el año 2025, aunque se contempló una posible
prórroga del préstamo. Por lo que, lo más probable es que
podamos disfrutar de esta estupenda colección por mucho
más tiempo.
CENTRE POMPIDOU MALAGA.
El Centre Pompidou Málaga es una sede del Centro Na-
cional de Arte y Cultura Georges Pompidou de Francia y
está ubicada en el Puerto de Málaga. Sito en un espacio
conocido como ‘El Cubo’, diseñado por los arquitectos Ja-
vier Pérez y Juan Antonio Marín.
El Centre Pompidou, uno de los 10 mejores museos de
la ciudad de Málaga, fue inaugurado en marzo de 2015.
El museo presenta una colección permanente que recorre
el arte de los siglos XX y XXI. Esta se encuentra formada
por casi 90 obras de la colección del Centre Pompidou
Francia. Además de la increíble colección permanente,
el Centre Pompidou presenta de dos a tres exposiciones
temporales al año. El visitante vivirá el museo a través de
una instalación participativa.
Existe un acuerdo rubricado en 2013, en el que se reco-
ge que el Centre Pompidou, tendrá una permanencia de
cinco años prorrogables.
21CENTRO DE ARTE CONTEMPORÁNEO.
El Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga (CAC), es
un espacio ubicado en el antiguo Mercado de Mayoris-
tas de Málaga. Este edificio fue declarado Bien de interés
cultural. El CAC pretende divulgar el arte contemporáneo
mediante exposiciones, publicaciones, conferencias, pro-
gramas pedagógicos, talleres y seminarios, entre otros.
El museo hace un recorrido por los movimientos y ten-
dencias artísticas del siglo XX. Haciendo especial hincapié
en los años 50 hasta la actualidad, aunque se encuentra
siempre en constante evolución. Se trata de una colección
compuesta por cerca de cuatrocientas obras de artistas
nacionales e internacionales. El Centro de Arte Contem-
poráneo fue oficialmente inaugurado en febrero de 2003,
siendo una iniciativa cultural del Ayuntamiento de Málaga.
De sus 6.000 metros cuadrados, 2.400 están destinados
a exposiciones.
El CAC Málaga ha sido el primer centro y museo de
arte en España que ha obtenido la certificación de calidad
internacional.
COLECCIÓN DEL MUSEO RUSO SAN
PETERSBURGO MALAGA.
Colección del Museo Ruso, San Petersburgo Málaga,
ubicado en el emblemático edificio de la antigua fábrica
de tabacos, se encuentra la sede del Museo Estatal Ruso.
La colección del Museo Ruso San Petersburgo en Málaga
está compuesta por un centenar de piezas datadas entre
los siglos XV y XX. Fue inaugurado el 25 de marzo de
2015. Además de las salas de exposición, el centro dispo-
ne de auditorio, tres salas de proyección, talleres infanti-
les, sala de lectura con libros de referencia, una sede del
Museo Virtual y cafetería. El acuerdo firmado en 2014 dis-
ponía que la Colección tendría una permanencia de diez
años prorrogables. También que alrededor de 100 piezas
serían exhibidas de forma permanente. Además, medio
centenar serían expuestas en las exposiciones tempora-
les elaboradas por el propio Museo Estatal Ruso.
Con 2.300 metros cuadrados y 770 metros lineales
para exposiciones, el Museo Ruso de Málaga se configu-
ra como uno de los 10 mejores museos de la ciudad de
Málaga.

MUSEO AUTOMOVILÍSTICO Y DE LA MODA
El Museo Automovilístico y de la Moda está ubicado en
el edificio de la antigua fábrica de tabacos de Málaga. En
el Museo Automovilístico recorrerás 7.000 metros cuadra-
dos, divididos en 10 salas. Estas albergan una sorpren-
dente colección de más de noventa exclusivos modelos
de coches. En la visita repasarás la historia del automóvil
desde sus inicios hasta hoy en día. El museo acoge tam-
bién una inédita muestra de motores convertidos en arte.
Por no hablar de colección de moda de más de 300 som-
breros vintage, sombrereras, vestidos y maletas origina-
les de los años 20-50 de grandes diseñadores. Además,
existen repartidas por el recinto algunas obras de arte re-
lacionadas siempre con el mundo del motor. El Museo Au-
tomovilístico fue inaugurado el 16 de septiembre de 2010
y fue obra de la arquitecto Carolina Serrano.
El Museo dispone asimismo de actividades, eventos so-
ciales, profesionales, e incluso la celebración de bodas.
MUSEO NACIONAL DE AEROPUERTOS
NAVEGACIÓN Y TRANSPORTE AÉREO.
El Museo Nacional de Aeropuertos, Navegación y
Transporte Aéreoes la única muestra de esta naturaleza
que existe en España, y una de las pocas que se pueden
ver en el mundo. El Museo Aeronáutico, como se le cono-
ce, fue inaugurado el 13 de noviembre de 1997 y supera
los 1.500 metros de exposición. Este cuenta con más de
4.000 piezas relacionadas con la historia de los aeropuer-
tos y de la aviación. El objetivo principal del museo es
mostrar a sus visitantes la evolución del transporte aéreo
a lo largo del siglo XX, así como manifestar la importancia
del mismo para el desarrollo del turismo. El Museo Aero-
náutico está dirigido a escolares, amantes de la aviación
y en definitiva, a todos los que tengan curiosidad por co-
nocerlo. Cabe destacar la antigua Terminal de Pasajeros,
que estuvo en uso de 1948 a 1968 y que hoy forma parte
del Museo.
23MUSEO DE ARTES Y COSTUMBRES POPULARES.
El Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares, es un mu-
seo etnográfico donde se representan la vida rural y ur-
bana de Málaga y su provincia. Fue inaugurado el 23 de
octubre de 1976 en el Mesón de la Victoria, una antigua
posada del siglo XVII ubicada a orillas del río Guadalme-
dina y declarada Bien de interés cultural en 1964. El mu-
seo se organiza en torno a 18 salas expositivas donde
encontrarás espacios ambientados según las costumbres
tradicionales, una colección de Barros Malagueños, cerá-
micas, piezas textiles, forja, orfebrería, piezas de religio-
sidad popular, artes de la imprenta… Además de todo lo
anterior, se puede disfrutar de una colección de revistas
literarias y de periódicos de los siglos XIX y XX.

Además de los museos de la ciudad de Málaga nombra-
dos anteriormente, existe una gran y variada oferta mu-
seística que merece la pena mencionar. Son el Museo del
Patrimonio Municipal, el Museo de Málaga, el Museo del
Vidrio y Cristal, el Museo Revello de Toro, la Casa Gerald
Brenan, el Museo Jorge Rando, el Museo del Vino, el Mu-
seo del Arte Flamenco, Ars Málaga, el Centro de Arte de
la Tauromaquia, el Centro de Ciencia Principia, el Museo
Interactivo de la Música, el Ecomuseo Lagar de Torrijos,
el Museo de la Semana Santa y las Cofradías, el Museo
Alborania, Aula del Mar y muchos otros que descubrirás
