Johann Sebastian Bach was a GENIUS! He wrote some of the
most amazing music the world has ever known! Did you know
that The Bach Choir of Bethlehem is the oldest Bach Choir in Harry Fisher

How should I listen to the music as I watch this film?
When you listen to a sound, you pay attention and think about
it. When you talk to your friends, you listen carefully to what
they’re saying. When you listen to Bach’s music, think about
the different elements of music you’ve learned about in class.
Listen to the way voices and instruments weave together to
produce a beautifully blended sound. Hear the melody and
harmony – do you know what those words mean? What is your
favorite instrument in The Orchestra? How does the music make
you feel? Do you want to hum along…bounce to the rhythm?
That means you’re really listening carefully. Being a good listener
is something you can be proud of!

You hear a sound when an object makes air vibrate. Instruments do this in
different ways. Fill in the blanks with words from the ANSWER BUBBLES

STRINGS

One of his favorite instruments was the harpsichord, which he learned to play by the age of 17. The harpsichord has a wing-shaped keyboard. “HEARING THE BACH CHOIR OF BETHLEHEM inspired my class to write some poetry about our experience.
I selected vertebrate verse for them to express themselves. A Vertebrate Verse is written in the center of
the paper with one word per line. The poem does not rhyme but it must have a simile which compares
two often unrelated things. Bach would be so surprised to learn that children of the 21st century loved
his music and are moved by it. We are so fortunate that The Bach Choir of Bethlehem takes time to bring
such wonderful music to our children in their Bach to School Program.”
