general Summary:Size of the grant: €10 Mio + up to €4 Mio Duration: up to 6 years Team: Composed by 2 to 4 researchers and their research groups. One researcher can be based outside the European Union or the Horizon Europe Associated Countries Oportunidad para investigadores en Uniandes! ERC Synergy Grants Are you a researcher that wants to address a research problem so ambitious, that can not be dealt with you and your team alone? The Synergy Grants could be for you! Who can apply? A group of two to maximum four Principal Investigators (PIs) – of which one will be designated as the corresponding PI (cPI) – working together and bringing different skills and resources to tackle ambitious research problems. No specific eligibility criteria regarding the academic training are foreseen for ERC Synergy Grants. PIs must present an early achievement track-record or a ten- year track-record, whichever is most appropriate. Proposals will be evaluated on the sole criterion of scientific excellence which, in the case the ERC Synergy Grants, takes on the additional meaning of outstanding intrinsic synergetic effect. Criteria: Applications can be made in any field of research. The ERC's grants operate on a 'bottom-up' basis without predetermined priorities. In the case of the ERC Synergy Grants, applications must demonstrate that the proposed research cannot be carried out by a single PI working alone. Location: Research must be conducted by all PIs in a public or private research organisation (known as a Host Institution, HI). It could be the HI where the applicant already works, or any other HI established in one of the EU Member States or Associated Countries. One Principal Investigator per Synergy Grant group at any one time can be hosted or engaged by an institution outside of the EU or Associated Countries. Host Institution: Applications for an ERC Synergy Grant must be submitted by a minimum of two to a maximum of four Principal Investigators (PI), with one of the PIs acting as corresponding PI (cPI). The cPI will
act as a contact point of behalf of the group.
Funding:
Synergy Grants can be up to a maximum of € 10 million for a period of 6 years (pro rata for
projects of shorter duration). However an addition € 4 million can be requested in the proposal
in total to cover:
eligible 'start-up' costs for Principal Investigators moving to the EU or an Associated
Country from elsewhere as a consequence of receiving an ERC grant and/or
the purchase of major equipment and/or
access to large facilities.
An ERC grant can cover up to 100% of the total eligible direct costs of the research plus a
contribution of 25% of the total eligible costs towards indirect costs.

Who: inter- and transdisciplinary research teams (scholars from humanities or social sciences
working together with natural, life or engineering scientists, plus societal stakeholders).
Descripción Requirements: Involvement of 3-5 researchers from at least 3 different countries (including at
general least one applicant from a German university/research institution and at least two from
institutions in two different non-European Low and Middle Income Countries).
Society and nature are two intricately interlinked dynamic systems, influencing and modifying
each other. This intricacy has been highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic. To better understand
the emergence and spread of transmittable diseases like zoonoses a deeper understanding ofthe complexity and dynamics of human-environmental interactions and the connections
between human, animal and environmental health is necessary. Questions arising in this context
are, for example: Which are the structural drivers behind the emergence and spread of
zoonoses? Or: How do perceptions of human-nature-relations influence human activities? And
what can we learn from this, not only on an academic level, but also with a view to possible
transformation pathways aiming at a more sustainable and healthier world?
Funding will be provided for small, but strongly interacting, interdisciplinary research consortia
of three to five researchers who design and conduct a project together with societal
stakeholders in a transdisciplinary way. Besides one researcher working at a university or
research institution in Germany, the involvement of two researchers affiliated to academic
institutions in Low and Middle Income Countries outside of Europe is required. For each project
up to 1.5 million Euro will be provided for up to four years.
To enhance the potential impact of the funded projects the Foundation intends to support
networking between the participants to e. g. interconnect the results of the different regional
case studies by identifying interfaces, consolidating methods, problem situations and prognostic
potentials, or to compile transferable results.

CLACSO lanza la Convocatoria de Investigación para equipos «Los Derechos Humanos y la
consolidación de la paz como dimensiones para el fortalecimiento de la democracia en América
Latina y el Caribe». En esta convocatoria se promueve la postulación de equipos de investigación
Descripción integrados por investigadoras e investigadores de diversas disciplinas, trayectorias y experiencias
general que aborden los problemas desde una perspectiva crítica y con la voluntad de aportar ideas para
afrontar los desafíos planteados desde propuestas superadoras.
Se otorgarán hasta ocho (8) becas grupales. El monto de las becas otorgadas consistirá en 12.000dólares para cada equipo de investigación. La investigación propuesta se desarrollará en un
período máximo de 10 (diez) meses.
Las/os postulantes deberán ser investigadoras/es que tengan vínculos acreditados con Centros
Miembros CLACSO, lo cual acreditarán con una declaración jurada. En caso de adjudicarse la
beca deberá presentar una carta aval firmada por la máxima autoridad del centro.
Serán admitidas presentaciones de autoría colectiva de hasta cuatro (4) integrantes.
La conformación de los equipos debe respetar la paridad de género (al menos 50% mujeres) y
deberá seleccionar un/a de los/as integrantes como responsable de la inscripción del proyecto.

Desde La Embajada de Francia se abre una nueva convocatoria con el propósito de diversificar el
capital relacional de las comunidades de investigadores e incrementar el número de aplicaciones
a los programas AmSud (STIC-AmSUd, MATH AmSud, CLIMAT AmSud), herramienta central de la
cooperación regional entre Francia y América del Sur. (Para información de contexto,

Nota: para entender el contexto de esta convocatoria, es importante mencionar que las

del Programa.
Esta convocatoria particular de Trampolin AmSud2021 busca facilitar los contactos y redes entre
investigadores de Sudamérica con miras a la presentación de propuestas en la próxima
convocatoria de AmSud. Por lo tanto, al presentarse a la convocatoria, se deben mencionar
tanto la universidad socia en Sudamérica como la universidad socia en Francia.Esta convocatoria tiene por objeto la concesión de una ayuda a un(a) investigador (a) para
realizar una estancia de una (1) semana en un grupo de investigación de una universidad de la
Región de América Latina. Los países elegibles son: Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay,
Perú, Uruguay y Venezuela.
Esta estancia servirá para:
(i) el desarrollo de un proyecto de investigación
(ii) la preparación a la aplicación de este proyecto a la próxima convocatoria de los programas
AMSUD en el 2022.

Objeto de la convocatoria: Conformar un banco de elegibles para el financiamiento de apoyos
económicos a la movilidad internacional en el marco del desarrollo de una Tesis Doctoral en
Cotutela con Francia.
Descripción Presupuesto: el presupuesto total para esta convocatoria es de alrededor de 24.000 euros, con
general la cual se espera financiar a 8 beneficiarios. Dichos recursos son aportados de la siguiente

The Council of the International Geoscience Programme (IGCP) agreed, during the 6th Council
session in March 2021, to launch new call for project proposals to promote collaborative projects
under UNESCO umbrella with a special emphasis on the benefit to society, capacity-building, and
the advancement and sharing of knowledge between scientists.
The call emphasizes and prioritizes proposals addressing the Vision Themes and annually defined
topic of the IGCP detailed below. We also welcome proposals that include Artificial Intelligence
(AI), big data and cloud computing methodologies for application in the Geosciences. Women,
Descripción young and early career scientists from developing countries are especially encouraged to apply.
general Proposals will be ranked taking into account gender equality, geographic distribution of the
leaders, project beneficiaries. The top multidisciplinary project will receive a Council Award and
special funding.
Successful projects will be sponsored for up to five years jointly by UNESCO, the International
Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS), the Jeju Province Development Corporation (JPDC) of the
Republic of Korea and the UNESCO National Commission for the People’s Republic of China.
For 2021, only one special topic has been agreed: “Enhancing Societal Acceptance of theSustainable Development of Earth’s Geological Resources”.

The International Geoscience and Geoparks programme (IGGP) and the Artist Katie
Paterson from UK are looking to work with geoscience partners across the world in the delivery
of a major new public art commission in California, to open in 2022.
We are looking to work with partners who can assist with the sustainable sourcing and collection
of sand from global deserts, and provide advice on the local geology, ecology and communities
in each region.
Collaborating with scientists and researchers across the world, Katie Paterson’s projects consider
our place on Earth in the context of geological time and change. Her artworks make use of
Descripción sophisticated technologies and specialist expertise to stage intimate, poetic and philosophical
general engagements between people and their natural environment.
Titled “Mirage”, the artwork is a collaboration with the leading architects Zeller and Moye and
will create a large-scale immersive sculpture formed from over 400 cast glass columns, made of
sand collected from deserts across the earth.
To achieve this, Katie Paterson’s team is looking to work with scientific institutes, art institutions
and individuals worldwide to collect sand using sustainable and ethical practices.
We attach a list of the deserts (see excel file) we are hoping to collect sand from - we hope to
work with geoscientists in each country, and are particularly keen to make contact with potentialcollaborators in China, Senegal, The Horn of Africa (Ethiopia, Djibouti, Somaliland), Iraq and Iran.
Katie Paterson’s team requires approximately 100kg of sand from each of the listed deserts. All
costs including transportation, permits, time and other expenses can be covered. Collaborators
will be credited for their involvement.

Descripción La AUF, atenta y sensible a la evolución de la pandemia por COVID-19, lanza una nueva
general convocatoria internacional “AUF-COVID-19.2”, ampliando la tipología de los proyectos
elegibles. La AUF destina a esta nueva convocatoria un presupuesto excepcional de un millón
de euros.
Esta nueva convocatoria podrá financiar investigaciones de acciones y estudios destinados a
analizar consecuencias de la crisis sanitaria y que proponen soluciones innovadoras tanto en los
ámbitos de la salud, de las ciencias y tecnologías, como en las ramas de las ciencias humanas,
económicas y sociales.La convocatoria prioriza:
1. Equipos de jóvenes investigadores/as que promueven proyectos en beneficio de los países del
Sur global.
2. Consorcios que proponen proyectos de impacto nacional, regional o internacional. Se estimula
y se valora la implicación de los Ministerios involucrados.
Criterios de elegibilidad:
Se pueden someter proyectos instituciones de educación superior o estructuras de
investigación de miembros de la AUF, solos o en alianza con otros, así como redes
universitarias miembros de AUF.
La convocatoria estimula el involucramiento de las comunidades de estudiantes en la
lucha contra la pandemia. Sin embargo, el coordinador del proyecto debe ser un/a
docente o un/a investigador/a permanente de una de dichas instituciones
Áreas:
Solo se considerarán los proyectos que integran una dimensión inclusiva y responsable según los
Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de la Agenda 2030 de las Naciones Unidas. Todas las
iniciativas con un impacto tecnológico, económico y/o social factibles de evaluar a corto o medio
plazo son elegibles.
Categorías:
Los proyectos que serán sometidos se dividen en 2 categorías:
Proyectos categoría A (proyecto con un impacto tecnológico, económico y/o social
rápido): La subvención de AUF es a lo sumo de 20 000 euros y puede cubrir hasta 90%
del presupuesto global.
Proyectos categoría B (proyecto excepcional de alto impacto o particularmente
innovador, con una dimensión nacional, interregional o internacional): La subvención de
la AUF es a lo sumo de 50 000 euros y puede cubrir hasta 80% del presupuesto global del
proyecto.
Por razones técnicas, el formulario de respuesta debe llenarse de forma prioritaria en idioma
francés. Se puede completar en inglés, pero el resumen del proyecto debe ser obligatoriamente
en francés.

Provocation
While Open Society is, undoubtedly, a contested concept, we find at its very heart a
commitment to open discussion and critical thinking. This critical ethos also applies to the idea of
Open Society itself: What are its characteristics? How, if at all, can the concept be translated into
practice? What is its potential and what are its limitations in today’s world? Is Open Society a
"Western" concept? In probing these and related questions, this is a conference on Open Society
(as a philosophical/political concept) in the spirit of Open Society (as a critical ethos). As such, it
seems apt to frame its overarching theme as a (deliberate) provocation: Forget Open Society?
Purpose
Following a series of workshops and public events in its first year of existence, OSRP will host an
academic conference open to everyone with a genuine interest in the concept of Open Society.
Descripción The main purpose of this conference is to explore and open up further avenues for research on
general the idea(l) of Open Society in regional, national, international, and global contexts. This
conference seeks to bring together and spark conversations between scholars, thinkers, and
activists from various disciplines who will critically reflect on this contested concept and probe
its potential and limitations in light of the global challenges that humanity faces.
Topics and Areas of Interest
OSRP welcome submissions from diverse disciplines and theoretical backgrounds and we are
interested in empirical, theoretical, and normative approaches. Since this is a conference on, and
in the spirit of, Open Society, we expect presenters to engage seriously with Open Society as a
philosophical/political concept. Contributions can come from disciplines in which there has been
substantive engagement with the concept of Open Society (e.g., education and public health)
but we also encourage explorations in fields that have been hesitant to draw on this concept
(e.g., international relations, feminism). Topics of interest include, but are certainly not limited
to:
Comparative studies on the concept of Open Society in the works of different thinkers
(e.g. Popper, Berlin, Shklar, Arendt, Oakeshott, Voegelin, etc.) The concept of Open Society and its relation to liberalism and democracy
Freedom and justice in Open Societies (e.g. are Open Societies ‘just’ societies?)
Towards a "Global Open Society"
Feminist engagements with Open Society
Open Society and non-Western philosophy
The concept of Open Society in the context of post-socialist transformation
Open Society, populism, and the rise of authoritarianism
The potential of Open Society to address contemporary challenges (e.g. health, poverty,
racism)
Planned publication
The organisers will select papers for publication in an edited volume or a special issue in an
academic journal.
Timeline
August 30, 2021: Deadline for submission of abstracts. Abstracts, including a working
title, should be 250-300 words and be emailed to royerc@ceu.edu. Please also include a
short biography of 70-100 words. Successful contributions will be notified by the end of
August 2021.
October 28-29, 2021: Date of conference. Conference papers should have a word count
of approximately 2000 words (excluding bibliography). The event will be held online;
depending on the number of selected speakers and panels, this will either be a one-day
or a two-day event.
February 28, 2022: Papers for inclusion in academic publication (edited volume, special
issue) due.

14. OSUN – CLASP Fellows Program: Applications Open

The Center for Liberal Arts and Sciences Pedagogy (CLASP) Fellows Program is a 2-year
professional development opportunity for early to mid-career faculty from OSUN institutions
who show potential for pedagogical leadership. Applications are open now until August 30,
2021.
The fellowship runs on a cohort model with 20 fellows in each 2-year cohort. These cohorts of
CLASP Fellows will be interdisciplinary, offering the benefit of collaborations across areas of
study as well as across campuses. The overarching goal of the CLASP Fellows Program is to
develop and foster a commitment to student-centered, writing-rich teaching methods central to
Liberal Arts and Sciences education.
Each cohort of CLASP Fellows, once trained, will offer intensive workshops intended to continue
to support faculty across the network and cultivate a core group of OSUN faculty who will lead
blended workshops and collaborate with colleagues across OSUN partner institutions. The
training the fellows receive and pass on to the wider faculty at each institution will influence
instruction, classroom management and curriculum, as well as assessment and grading. Through
faculty, the work of CLASP will also impact thousands of students, involving all in the free
exchange of ideas and informed discussion, critical thinking, and problem solving in the
classroom.
Eligibility
The CLASP Fellows program is aimed at early to mid-career university faculty and administrators
who focus on teaching and learning. The fellows program is also restricted to individuals who are
based at OSUN partner institutions.
We encourage applications from faculty and administrators who are interested in writing-based,
student-centered liberal arts pedagogy. The core of this fellowship is a deep exploration of
Writing to Learn and Communication Across the Curriculum practices, but no previous
experience with these practices is necessary.
