Terremoto es una revista sobre arte contemporáneo y cultura en las Américas. La
revista se centra en un público conformado tanto por profesionales del medio,
como por estudiantes y amantes del arte a escala continental y tiene como
finalidad divulgar el trabajo de una nueva generación de críticxs de arte, escritores
e investigadores, quienes producen nuestros contenidos, así como de les distintxs
agentes y escenas artísticas ubicadas a lo largo del continente. En formato
bilingüe (inglés/español), una de las metas de la revista es fortalecer el diálogo
cultural entre las Américas, del norte y del sur, así como el Caribe. Operamos en
una lógica de financiamiento mixto: venta de publicidad, apoyo de becas y
filantropía. Con la intención de expandir las herramientas a través de las cuales
discutimos en torno al arte en la región, nos complace anunciar la segunda
convocatoria de nuestro nuevo programa de exposiciones La Postal.

Lanzado en junio del 2018, La Postal es un espacio de exposición de 4 x 5 metros
cuadrados ubicado en nuestra oficina, en el centro de la Ciudad de México. El
nombre hace referencia a las prácticas del arte correo en Latinoamérica y los
vínculos que éste tejió de los años 60s a 80s. Abrimos este espacio con la finalidad
de estimular la divulgación de proyectos de investigación vinculados a archivos

dentro del campo artístico mediante el formato de exhibición. Se llevarán a cabo
cuatro proyectos de exposiciones por año, escogidos a través de una convocatoria
internacional bianual, dirigida a artistas, curadores, investigadores, escritores,
filósofxs, editores y docentes que vivan y trabajen en las Américas. Con La Postal,
Terremoto hace un llamado a presentar proyectos de exhibición que deriven de
una investigación vinculada a la idea de archivo y/o directamente a un archivo
institucional, independiente o personal. Los proyectos deberán relacionarse con
los ejes establecidos por nuestra línea editorial (decoloniales, antipatriarcales,
feministas y anticapitalistas) en relación a aspectos políticos, culturales e
históricos comunes a lo largo del continente americano. Deben ser proyectos de
arte contemporáneo o que pretendan afiliarse a las discusiones que ocurren en
este campo. Se pueden presentar investigaciones históricas con la condición que
demuestren una aportación valiosa a discusiones actuales. No se trata de producir
nuevas obras artísticas, sino de pensar en la agencia de materiales preexistentes
que no tienen tanta visibilidad, y de las estrategias que se pueden utilizar para
presentar una investigación a través del campo expositivo. Asimismo, se
favorecerán propuestas que demuestren un carácter experimental e innovador en
términos de montaje. Con La Postal, la revista pretende contribuir tanto a la
promoción de la investigación acerca de la historia del arte en las Américas como a
las discusiones actuales sobre la curaduría como campo experimental.

El programa de La Postal es anual. Esta emisión contempla proyectos a exhibirse
en el primer semestre del 2019. Cada periodo de exhibición tendrá una duración de
8 semanas.

Primera exposición
Inauguración: 14 de marzo de 2019
Exhibición hasta el 10 de mayo de 2019
Montaje: del 7 al 13 de marzo de 2019

Segunda exposición
Inauguración: 23 de mayo de 2019
Exhibición hasta el 19 de julio de 2019
Montaje: del 16 al 22 de mayo

Para cada exposición, se ofrecen las condiciones siguientes:
  •   Honorarios del seleccionadx: $400 USD
  •   Producción de la exposición: $500 USD
  •   Viaje redondo a la Ciudad de México con un costo límite de $700 USD y
      hospedaje en un espacio compartido. Los viáticos como transporte local y
      alimentación corren por parte del seleccionadx.

Documentación a entregar:
  •   Nombre completo, ocupación e información de contacto
  •   Semblanza (300 palabras máximo)
  •   Descripción del proyecto (500 palabras máximo)
             ·   Introducción al tema de investigación
             ·   Vínculos de esa investigación con el archivo a exponer
             ·   Corte semiótico (breve descripción de la exhibición en relación al
                 espacio). Revisar planos e imágenes del espacio al final del
                 documento
             ·   Referencias / Imágenes (máximo 10)
  •   Proyección financiera general

editor en jefe de Terremoto, así como Albertine de Galbert, fundadora de arte-
sur.org, y de una personalidad competente cuyo nombre será anunciado más
adelante en el proceso de selección.

                  OPENS CALL FOR CURATORIAL PROJECTS

                          DEADLINE: JANUARY 20, 2019

Terremoto is a magazine about contemporary art and culture in the Americas. The
magazine focuses on an audience made up of both media professionals, students
and lovers of art on a continental scale and aims to disseminate the work of a new
generation of art critics, writers and researchers, who produce our contents, as
well as of the different agents and artistic scenes located throughout the
continent. In bilingual format (English / Spanish), one of the goals of the magazine
is to strengthen the cultural dialogue between the Americas, the North and the
South, as well as the Caribbean. We operate in a mixed financing logic: advertising
sales, scholarship support and philanthropy. With the intention of expanding the
tools through which we discuss art in the region, we are pleased to announce the
second edition of our new exhibition program La Postal.

Launched in June 2018, La Postal is an exhibition space of 4 x 5 square meters
located in our office, in Mexico City’s downtown. The name refers to the practices
of mail art in Latin America and the links that it wove from the 60s to 80s. We open
this space with the purpose of stimulating the dissemination of research projects
linked to archives within the artistic field through the exhibition format. Four

exhibition projects per year will be carried out, chosen through a biannual
international call for artists, curators, researchers, writers, philosophers, editors
and teachers who live and work in the Americas. With La Postal, Terremoto makes
a call to present exhibition projects that derive from an investigation linked to the
idea of archiving and/or directly to an institutional, independent or personal
archive. The projects must relate to the central concepts established by our
editorial line (decolonial, anti-patriarchal, feminist and anti-capitalist) in relation to
political, cultural and historical aspects common throughout the American
continent. They must be contemporary art projects or that intend to join the
discussions that take place in this field. Historical investigations can be presented
provided that they demonstrate they demonstrate a valuable contribution to
current discussions. It is not intended to produce new artistic works, but rather to
think about the agency of preexisting materials that do not have as much visibility,
and the strategies that can be used to present a research through the exhibition
field. Likewise, proposals that demonstrate an experimental and innovative
character in terms of assembly will be favored. With La Postal, the magazine aims
to contribute both to the promotion of research on the history of art in the
Americas and to current discussions on curatorship as an experimental field.

The Postal program is annual. This issue contemplates projects to be exhibited in
the first semester of 2019. Each exhibition period will last up to 6 weeks.

First exhibition
Opening: March 14, 2019
Exhibition until May 10, 2019
Assembly: from March 7 to 13, 2019

Second exhibition
Opening: May 23, 2019

Exhibition until July 19, 2019
Assembly: from May 16 to 22
For each exhibition, the following conditions are offered:
• Selection fees: $400 USD
• Production of the exhibition: $500 USD
• Round trip to Mexico City with a maximum cost of $700 USD and accommodation
in a shared space. Travel and food costs are the responsibility of the chosen artist.

• Full name, occupation and contact information
• Resume (300 words maximum)
• Project description (500 words maximum)

· Links of that investigation with the archive to be exhibited
· Semiotic cut (brief description of the exhibition in relation to space). Please find
