BIENVENIDOS AL ÚNICO DESIERTO DE EUROPA
La ŠKODA Titan Series Almería nace con el objetivo de revivir el compañerismo, la aventura, la
competición, la superación… Y todo aquello que tenga que ver con el espíritu Titan.
Para ello, ha elegido Tabernas, el que es el único desierto árido de Europa. Un lugar tan singular
como espectacular que ha sido plató de grandes películas como El bueno, el feo y el malo;
Lawrence de Arabia; Indiana Jones y la última cruzada; o escenas de series tan actuales y exito-
sas como Juego de Tronos.
Pero no solo el desierto hará las delicias de los ciclistas. La costa de Almería es una joya de la
naturaleza y uno de los últimos reductos de costa virgen del Mediterráneo. Este espacio natural
protegido alberga 63 kilómetros de costa con deslumbrantes acantilados y fondos marinos de
gran calidad.
Sin duda, nos espera una primera edición muy especial.

WELCOME TO THE ONLY DESERT IN EUROPE
ŠKODA Titan Series Almería is born with the aim of reviving companionship, adventure, compe-
tition, self-improvement… Everything that has to do with the Titan spirit.
For this reason, the chosen place is Tabernas, which is the only arid desert in Europe. A place as
unique as spectacular that has been the set of great films such as “The good, the bad and the
ugly”, “Lawrence of Arabia”, “Indiana Jones and the last crusade” or scenes from series as
famous and successful as “Game of Thrones”.
But not only the desert will delight all cyclists. The coast of Almería is a jewel of nature and one
of the last unspoiled spots of the Mediterranean. This protected natural area is home of 63 kilo-
meters of coastline with dazzling cliffs and high-quality seabeds.
With no doubt, a very special first edition awaits us.

Cuatro etapas y una prólogo para ponerte a prueba
La provincia de Almería albergará las 4 etapas y la prólogo de esta ŠKODA Titan
Series Almería. En total serán 350 kms y más de 5.000 metros de desnivel positivo
acumulado. La espectacularidad de sus paisajes y la dureza seguirán como denomi-
nador común, especialmente en la segunda etapa, cuando tendrá lugar el ŠKODA
Challenge de esta edición.
Four stages and a prologue to put riders to the test
The province of Almería will host the four stages and the prologue of the 2021
ŠKODA Titan Series Almería. 350 kilometers and over 5,000 meters of positive eleva-
tion gain will make up this adventure on a MTB. Spectacular landscapes and tough
stages will define once again this race, especially at stage #2, when the always
demanding ŠKODA Challenge will take place.

DESCRIPTIVO:
Con salida y llegada al C.C. Torrecardenas.
Los participantes, con salida de dos en dos cada 30’’ y los primeros dorsales de 1 en
1 cada 60’’, afrontarán un bucle que recorre la rambla del rio Andarax, en un tramo
que comparte recorrido en los dos sentidos, salvo un pequeño tramo que circula por
caminos rurales o ramblas secundarias.
Una primera toma de contacto para definir la formación de los cajones de salida de
la primera jornada.
PROLOGUE STAGE

DESCRIPTION
Stage start and finish will be at the Torrecardenas Shopping Center in Almería. Parti-
cipants will take the start in groups of two every 30 seconds. First bibs will take the
start one by one and every 60 seconds. It will be a loop stage that will run along the
ravine of the Andarax river. This section will allow a route in both directions, except
for a short stretch that will go on rural paths and secondary ravines. An untimed
prologue stage that will only decide the start groups for stage #1.

Descriptivo:
Primera etapa, un bucle que recorre el Parque Natural del Cabo de Gata.
Con una primera zona rápida y sin desnivel, en seguida afrontamos dos duras subi-
das donde ganamos muchos metros de desnivel en pocos kilómetros.
A partir de San José, empiezan unos kilómetros de gran belleza que nos dejaran en
la población de Albaricoques donde estará la segunda estación de hidratación.
Aquí cambia el tipo de terrenos y comienza una zona de pistas anchas, en buen
estado con desnivel favorable que salvo el viento en contra que suele soplar en la
zona hacen que se avance rápido.
En la parte final de la etapa, nos adentramos en una zona de ramblas, normalmente
blandas y muy arenosas, que marcarán el final del día y la parte más dura del recorri-
do.
STAGE 1: EL TOYO - EL TOYO
TOTAL DISTANCE; 102 KM
LIAISON (START): 2 KM
SPECIAL STAGE: 98 KM
LIAISON (FINISH): 2 KM
ELEVATION GAIN: 1,715 M
DESCRIPTION
A loop stage that runs through the Cabo de Gata Natural Park.
First part of the stage will be flat and fast until facing two short but steep climbs to
achieve a very remarkable elevation gain in a short distance. From the town of San
Jose to Albaricoques the route will be absolutely beautiful until reaching Water
Station #2. From this point on, the terrain turns into wide tracks in good condition in
a mild descent. Speed will be a nice feature, provided that a headwind does not
appear.
The toughest section of the stage will be the last one, where soft-sand ravines will
take participants back to the stage start point.

DESCRIPTIVO:
La segunda etapa de esta ŠKODA Titan Series Almeria 2021, será la jornada de mon-
taña. Con un principio en constante subida por zona de pistas y ramblas, llegaremos
a la población de Nijar.
Donde comienza una larga subida, en la que se disputará el ŠKODA Challenge. En
un principio por asfalto para seguir por una pista muy ancha y de buen piso hasta
llegar a casi 1.100 metros de altitud en la conocida Loma del Perro. Desde la que
arranca un descenso por un sendero con algunos pasos técnicos que acaba en la
población de Turrilas. La segunda parte de la etapa, nos lleva por tramos de pista y
de rambla de una manera rápida a la meta situada en el Oasis MiniHollywood, con
algún pequeño repecho y una sorpresa final en manera de tramo muy variado y
rompepiernas.
STAGE 2: EL TOYO - TABERNAS • ŠKODA WE LOVE CYLING
TOTAL DISTANCE; 65 KM
LIAISON (START): 2.2 KM
SPECIAL STAGE: 62.8 KM
ELEVATION GAIN: 1,831 M
DESCRIPTION
The mountain stage of the 2021 ŠKODA TITAN SERIES ALMERÍA with an uphill first
part on main tracks and ravines until cyclists reach the town of Níjar. There the
ŠKODA Challenge, a long and demanding climb, will start. Asphalt first, and then a
wide track on hard terrain up to an altitude of 1,100 meters at the well-known Loma
del Perro. The descent -including some technical sections- will take all cyclists to the
town of Turrillas. The second part of the stage will be a combination of fast tracks
and fast ravines on the way to the finish line at the Titan Camp located in a far-west
town. Pay attention to some short but steep slopes and a final surprise in the form
of a varied and legbreaker section.

DESCRIPTIVO:
Una etapa en bucle que recorre pistas semejantes en todo su itinerario, ramblas,
pistas en buen estado entre campos de olivos con un punto intermedio en la locali-
dad de Sorbas.
A partir del cual y tras unos kilómetros de asfalto, pasamos a afrontar la mayor
dificultad del día en forma de ascenso. Una vez coronamos, comienza un descenso
largo que nos llevará a la via verde de Lucainena y desde allí regresar al lugar de la
salida, compartiendo kilómetros con la llegada de la jornada anterior.
STAGE 3: TABERNAS - TABERNAS
TOTAL DISTANCE; 96.5 KM
ELEVATION GAIN: 1,526 M
DESCRIPTION
A loop stage where all tracks will be quite the same with ravines and tracks in good
condition through a number of olive groves. The town of Sorbas will mark the point
where right after a short stretch on asphalt, the participants will face the most diffi-
cult uphill section of the whole stage. Once the summit has been reached, a long
descent will take the titans to the Lucainena green way and the stage start point.
The last kilometers of the stage will be the same as those in stage #2.

DESCRIPTIVO:
Ultima etapa de esta ŠKODA Titan Series Almería. Una etapa que empieza con una
parte primera muy rápida por el interior de una gran rambla. Para llegar a la puerta
de Base Militar Alvarez de Sotomayor, donde empieza un recorrido por pistas con
continuas subidas y bajadas que acumulan muchos metros de desnivel positivo.
Antes de salir de la base aun nos quedará remontar una pequeña rambla pedregosa
y a continuación afrontar los últimos kilómetros de la jornada, una mezcla de pistas
rápidas y zonas arenosas que nos llevarán directos a El Toyo, donde concluirá esta
aventura de la ŠKODA TITAN SERIES ALMERÍA 2021.
STAGE 4: TABERNAS - EL TOYO • LA LEGIÓN STAGE MARCH SPIRIT

ELEVATION GAIN: 1,231 M
DESCRIPTION
Last stage of the 2021 ŠKODA TITAN SERIES ALMERÍA.The first part of the stage will
be very fast as riders will follow the course of a big ravine. Once they reach the Álva-
rez de Sotomayor military base, the route turns into continuous up and downs
where elevation gain figures increase very quickly. Before leaving the military base,
they will find a short but stony uphill section and then a mixture of fast tracks and
ŠKODA TITAN SERIES ALMERÍA.

Todos los participantes dispondrán de un servicio de WIFI gratuito ofrecido por Eurona,
muy importante para poder mandar mensajes a los familiares, así como consultar su
correo personal o lo que consideren. Aunque te recomendamos no mirar los emails de
trabajo y desconectar durante 1 semana. Seguro que lo agradeces. El servicio está limitado
a 1 hora/día.
All Titan Desert participants will be able to use the WIFI service provided by Eurona to send
messages to their beloved ones, as well as to check out their email accounts or for any
other reason. this service will be limited to 1h/day. Nevertheless, we recommend everyone
to leave their phones on a side for the whole week to relax and disconnect. We are sure
you’ll appreciate it.

2 y 3 de cada etapa, así como barritas energéticas y geles al inicio de cada etapa, que se
deberán recoger en el momento del control de firmas.

to be picked up when the runners pass through the signing control point.ŠKODA CHALLENGE Todos los participantes en la Škoda Titan Series Almería volverán a disputar el ŠKODA Challenge, un tramo cronometrado en subida donde los participantes masculino y feme- nino con mejor tiempo tendrán una bonificación de 60” en la clasificación general. En esta ocasión, el reto tendrá lugar en la segunda etapa de la carrera. Entre los kms 28 y 38, los ciclistas deberán afrontar una subida, donde ganarán 670 m de altitud y afrontarán rampas superiores al 18%. All the participants in the Škoda Titan Series Almería will compete in the ŠKODA Cha- llenge, an uphill time-trial where the men and women with the best times will earn a bonus of 60” in the general ranking. On this occasion, the challenge will take place in the second stage of the race. Between kilometres 40 and 56 the cyclists will have to take on a steep ascent of 670 metres with gradients above 18%.
