Superintendent and Principal Announcement
At the upcoming board meeting on May 20, 2021 (6:00 PM), the Board of Trustees will announce
the final candidate for the position of Superintendent of Pleasant Valley School District. They will
then take action to approve the hiring of that candidate. In addition, the new principal of Tierra
Linda School for the 2021-2022 school year will be considered for approval. The Board will be
meeting in person at City Hall and the meeting will be televised on Spectrum Channel 10 and
Frontier Channel 29. The Audio will also be livestreamed via the PVSD website. At this time, the
gallery will not be open to the public; however, those who wish to participate in public comment
may come to City Hall and remain outside until they are notified to come in to provide their
comment.

PVSD Summer Programs
We have received numerous questions regarding summer programs that PVSD will be offering
during the summer and how students can sign up for these programs. What follows is a listing of
what is being offered and who can participate:

Happy Campers Summer Academy
PVSD will be offering a three-week session to help students who were recommended by school staff
based on criteria that demonstrated significant academic needs in mathematics and English
Language Arts. This program is by invitation only. Students were invited to attend one of two
sessions that will be offered during the summer.

Extended School Year (ESY) – Special Education
This program is for students whose IEP team has determined they will have significant regression
during the summer break. Students will be notified by the Special Education Department if they
have ESY services on their IEP.

Summer Splash Speech Camp – Special Education
This will be offered in the afternoon after ESY. This is for students with speech services on their
Individualized Education Plan (IEP).. Students who have compensatory services owed to them will
be invited by the Special Education Department to attend.

Summer Splash Supplementary Learning Opportunities
These theme-based learning sessions will be offered to students with an IEP who have been
identified as having challenges throughout hybrid and distance learning nt and lack desired
progress towards IEP goals. Identified students will receive an invitation to participate from the
Special Education Department.

Save Our Kids Music (SOKM) Music Classes
SOKM will be offering afternoon music classes on a limited basis. The program is open to students
on a first come, first serve basis. Please watch Peach Jar for more information.

PVSD Child Care- Summer Camp 2020-2021
This is a tuition based full or part day summer camp program that will be located at Rancho Rosal
School. There will be theme based activities with on-site vendors as well as crafts, snacks, and many
other fun events. All current TK through 5th grade students are welcome to enroll. Space is
limited, so sign up now.

New CDC Mask Guidance
The CDC announced new mask guidance for fully vaccinated people yesterday. Many people may
be wondering what that means for Pleasant Valley School District. It is important to remember
that the CDC guidance is just that, guidance. We are required to follow the California
Department of Public Health orders and our local Ventura County Public Health orders. At this
time those orders still require mask wearing indoors and if less than six feet from other people. We
will continue to require masks until the local public health official makes changes to the current
public health order.

Anuncio del Superintendente y Director Escolar
En la próxima reunión de la junta el 20 de mayo del 2021 (6:00 PM) el Consejo de

Escolar de Pleasant Valley. Entonces tomaran medidas para aprobar la contratación de ese
candidato. Adicionalmente, el nuevo director de La Escuela Tierra Linda para el año escolar
2021-2022 será considerado para aprobación. El Consejo se reunirán en persona en City Hall y
la junta será televisada en el Canal 10 por Spectrum y el Canal 29 por Frontier. El Audio
también se trasmitirá en vivo a través del sitio web de PVSD. En este momento, la galería no
estará abierta al público, sin embargo, aquellos que deseen participar en los comentarios
públicos pueden venir a City Hall y permanecer afuera hasta que sean notificados para entrar y

Programas del Verano de PVSD
Hemos recibido numerosas preguntas acerca de los programas del verano que PVSD estará
ofreciendo durante el verano y el cómo inscribir a los estudiantes en esos programas. Lo que
sigue es la lista de que se está ofreciendo y quien puede participar:

Academia de Verano de Campistas Felices (Happy Campers Summer Academy)
PVSD estará ofreciendo una sesión de tres semanas para ayudar a los estudiantes que fueron
recomendados por personal de la escuela basado en el criterio que demostrara necesidades
académicas significativas en matemáticas y en Artes del Lenguaje Ingles. Este programa es por
invitación únicamente. Los estudiantes fueron invitados para asistir una de dos sesiones que
serán ofrecidas durante el verano.

Año Escolar Extendido (Extended School Year- ESY)- Educación Especial
Este programa es para estudiantes los cuales fueron determinados por el equipo de su IEP que
tendrían regresión significativa durante el descanso de verano. Los estudiantes serán notificados
por el Departamento de Educación Especial si tendrán servicios de ESY en su IEP.

Campamento de Lenguaje (Summer Splash Speech Camp)- Educación Especial
Esto se ofrecerá en la tarde después de ESY. Sera para estudiantes con servicios de lenguaje en su
Plan Educacional Individualizado (IEP por sus siglas en ingles). Estudiantes que tengan servicios

compensatorios que se les deban serán invitados por el Departamento de Educación Especial
para asistir.

Oportunidades de Aprendizaje Complementarias de Verano (Summer Splash Supplementary Learning Opportunities)
Esta sesión de aprendizaje basada en temas será ofrecida a los estudiantes con un IEP que han
sido identificados como teniendo desafíos a través del aprendizaje hibrido y a distancia y una
falta de progreso hacia sus metas del IEP. Estudiantes identificados recibirán una invitación para
participar del Departamento de Educación Especial.

Salvar la Música de Nuestros Hijos (Save Our Kids Music—SOKM)
SOKM ofrecerá clases de música en las tardes en base limitada. Este programa está abierto para
estudiantes basado en primer llegado, primero en ser servido. Favor de ver Peach Jar para más
información.

Campamento de Verano de Cuidado Infantil de PVSD del 2020-2021 (PVSD Child Care Summer Camp)
Este es un programa de verano basado en pago de matrícula de tiempo completo o parte de
tiempo que estará ubicado en La Escuela de Rancho Rosal. Abra actividades basadas en temas
con vendedores al igual que artesanías, bocadillos, y muchos otros eventos divertidos. Todos los
estudiantes actuales de TK a 5.o grado son bienvenidos a inscribirse. El cupo es limitado, así que
inscríbase ahora.

Guía nueva de CDC de Mascaras
La CDC anuncio ayer nuevas guías de las máscaras para personal completamente vacunadas.
Mucha gente se puede estar preguntando qué significa para el Distrito Escolar de Pleasant
Valley. Es importante recordar que la guía de CDC es eso, una guía. Estamos requeridos el
seguir las órdenes del Departamento de California de Salud Pública y las ordenes locales de
Salud Publica del Condado de Ventura. En estos momentos esas órdenes todavía requieren el
uso de las mascarillas adentro si están menos de seis pies de retirado de otras personas.
Continuaremos requiriendo las máscaras hasta que oficiales locales de salud pública local haga
cambios a la orden actual de salud pública.
