Horizon Europe is the EU’s key funding programme for Research & Innovation with a budget of
€95.5 billion. It will run from 2021 to 2027. The first calls for proposals for collaborative research
action were launched in June 2021.
In this context, EURAXESS and its partners are co-organizing two launch events for Horizon
Europe, one focusing on Brazil and another one focusing on the other Latin American &
Descripción Caribbean (LAC) countries. Both events will be in English.

The events will bring important information for Brazilian and other Latin American stakeholders
and researchers about how to take part in the programme. There will be presentations on
specific calls targeting Brazil and other LAC countries or matching the cooperation priority areas
between Brazil/LAC and the European Union (EU).
Research actors from the public and the private sector from both Brazil/LAC and the European
Research Area (ERA) are invited to attend. Registration is mandatory.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive, degenerative disorder of the brain and is the most
common form of dementia in older adults. AD is the sixth leading cause of death in the United
States. Prominent behavioral manifestations of AD include memory impairments and decline in
other cognitive domains.
Descripción This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) aims to explore the role of adaptive immunity in
general Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease-related dementias (AD/ADRD). Specifically, the FOA
seeks an understanding of brain immune surveillance, the generation of CNS-directed immune
responses in neurodegenerative disorders, and the functional role of adaptive immunity in
AD/ADRD onset and progression.

Esta es una de las numerosas actividades que el British Council está llevando a cabo como parte

del programa The Climate Connection en el período previo a la COP26, la conferencia de la ONU
sobre cambio climático que tendrá lugar en el Reino Unido en noviembre.
Todos los finalistas participarán en una clase magistral en línea de dos días impartida por
capacitadores líderes en comunicación científica. El ganador general recibirá un lugar en la finalinternacional de FameLab que se realizará en línea en noviembre y que tendrá la participación
de otros 20 países.

latinoamericanos miembros de la IILA que deseen realizar pasantías postuniversitarias de
especialización y/o actualización de conocimientos en las siguientes áreas:

La beca, que tendrá una duración mínima de 3 meses y máxima de 6 meses, consiste en:
a) una asignación mensual de € 1.200 para gastos de alojamiento y alimentación;
b) seguro contra enfermedad, accidentes y responsabilidad civil.
Los gastos de viaje de ida y vuelta desde el país de origen a Italia serán
completamente a cargo del becario o de la Entidad de pertenencia.
Requisitos excluyentes:
Ser ciudadano de uno de los países latinoamericanos miembros de la IILA;
Tener una edad máxima de 40 años. En el caso de candidatas con hijos, el límite
de edad se extiende 1 año por hijo (hasta 3 años / hijos);
Tener un título universitario (grado) en una carrera directamente relacionada
con el sector al que se presenta y comprobada experiencia;
Presentar un pre proyecto concreto de trabajo / investigación / curso, realizable
en el tiempo solicitado para la beca e indicando la carga horaria semanal del
mismo. En el caso de cursos, se deberá enviar el programa del mismo.
Contar con carta de aceptación de la institución donde desea realizar la beca;
Que la estadía o curso finalice antes del 31/01/2023
Estar desarrollando tareas laborales, de investigación o de colaboración con
entidades públicas (preferencial), privadas u ONGs del sector en América Latina
relativas a la temática de la beca solicitada acreditada con carta de presentación
de dicha entidad
El candidato elegirá por su cuenta y en base al proyecto que se desee realizar, una institución
italiana o internacional con sede in Italia, pública o privada, y se pondrá en contacto
directamente con la misma y sin intervención de la IILA. En caso de ser aceptado por dicha
institución, deberá solicitar a la misma una carta de aceptación (en papel membretado y con los
detalles del proyecto/curso a desarrollarse) firmada en original por un representante/ autoridad.

El Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo, con su laboratorio de innovación, BID Lab, buscan apoyar
soluciones innovadoras que empoderen a la creciente población de adultos mayores a
convertirse en un motor de inclusión social y recuperación económica en la región de América
Latina y el Caribe. Estas propuestas deberán tener un enfoque en la población pobre y
vulnerable de adultos mayores y deberán ser implementadas en uno o más de los 26 países
miembros prestatarios del BID.
Los modelos de negocio propuestos deben:
Ser de naturaleza innovadora y presentar una solución novedosa que no se haya
implementado antes en el país proponente, o que agregue un componente de
innovación a un modelo existente.
Promover la inclusión social y económica de la población pobre y vulnerable de
adultos mayores con indicadores clave para medir resultados.
Contemplar un camino para la escalabilidad o la replicación, así como la
sostenibilidad financiera del modelo.

públicas de innovación, aceleradoras y otras con experiencia demostrada en las
áreas de enfoque.
Los Aplicantes legalmente registrados en uno de los 26 países prestatarios del
BID donde se implementará el proyecto puede aplicar a la Categoría A.
Los Aplicantes legalmente registrados en uno de los 22 países no prestatarios del
BID pueden aplicar a la Categoría A sólo si lo hacen conjuntamente con una

over the world and from all kinds of fields of research a platform to exchange ideas about their
research projects and to present their research and discuss it with a wider audience.
This year’s conference topic is “Reaching One Another: Language as Interface and Performance”.
The deadline for the submission of abstracts is June 30, 2021.
We invite submissions of abstracts (550-600 words) on aspects of language as interface and
performance from undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines across the Arts and
Humanities, and Natural Sciences and Technology.

Possible formats for presentations include: Individual talks, joint talks, a workshop or creative
work (e.g. photo-exhibition, performance, concert or audiovisual presentation). This year’s
conference will hopefully take place in a hybrid format (online and at Johannes Gutenberg-

Members of OSUN’s Solve Climate by 2030 initiative will participate in an international panel
during the opening plenary of the Association for Environmental Studies and Sciences (AESS)
2021 virtual conference on “Community, Commitment, Collaboration: Moving Toward a Just
Future.”
Solve Climate by 2030, led by Eban Goodstein, Director of the Bard College Center for
Environmental Policy, is an initiative focused on globally coordinated climate education. The
project creates and promotes templates for educational initiatives, highlighting ambitious local
and regional climate solutions, and ways in which students and other citizens can engage with
communities to support these solutions.
At the AESS event, educators from Universidad de los Andes (Colombia), Central European
University (Lithuania), BRAC University (Bangladesh), University of Rhode Island (US), and the
Association of Pacific Rim Universities (Thailand), will discuss their participation in the Solve
Climate project and how it enhanced efforts to expand teaching about climate solutions and
Descripción climate justice. The opening plenary panel will be followed by a virtual discussion where all
general conference participants can communicate with the speakers.
During the panel, Goodstein will describe how the initiative organized more than 110 Global
Dialogs that reached more than 15,000 students across the globe in April 2021. He will also talk
about the #MakeClimateAClass campaign, which enlists faculty to assign their students to watch
local Global Dialog webinars and then follow up with a class discussion using subject-specific
teacher guides.
Goodstein also plans to inform AESS members on how they can get involved in the Worldwide
Teach-In on Climate and Justice on March 30, 2022, where over 1,000 colleges, universities, high
schools, and K-8 schools around the world will engage over half a million people in a 24-hour
seminar on climate solutions and justice during the transition.

This summer, OSUN's Economic Democracy Initiative (EDI) is offering “Democratizing Work after
the Pandemic,” an OSUN Course and public speaker series that brings to the OSUN community
prominent scholars from a variety of disciplines to interrogate the importance of democratizing
work as an economic, geopolitical and civic project in a world that is still reeling from the COVID-
19 pandemic.
“The pandemic exposed fundamental and deeply rooted inequities in the labor market and
society at large” says Pavlina R. Tcherneva, OSUN-EDI Founding Director and Associate Professor

of Economics at Bard College. “Workers who kept the world’s economies going and sustained

our lives and livelihoods were hailed as ‘essential’ and ‘indispensable’ but lacked the very basic
protections, decent wages, and minimum necessary benefits required to sustain their own lives
and livelihoods” she added.
This course and public series of talks rethinks and reimagines work as a democratic project in the
post-pandemic world. Working people are not simply "resources"--that was a central lesson of
the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic. "Democratizing Work" examines why
economic well-being and economic security cannot be governed by market forces alone. Itevaluates how and why existing economic structures exacerbate rampant inequalities, erode the
very foundations of economic stability, and threaten the lives of the most vulnerable.

The Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory is calling for papers for the 7th International
Conference of the Group for Social Engagement Studies, which will take place from 30th
September–2nd October, 2021. The conference aims to explore the conceptual difference
between applied and engaged philosophy. Our final goal is to reflect upon the role of
philosophers in modern society, and about the place philosophy should assume in contemporary
scientific discourse.

We welcome contributions from both established and young scholars. The papers should

address the general theme of the conference. Possible topics may include, but are not limited to:
The distinction between ideal and non-ideal theory
The role of the social sciences and the place of lived experience in philosophical
theorizing
The obligation (if there is one) of academics to address real-world predicaments

The official language of the conference is English.
Presentations should not exceed 20 minutes.

The objective is to bring participants together for the sharing of research and education
initiatives concerning their universities’ cultural and scientific collections.
This year, we will reflect on the research and preservation of architectural heritage and its place
in the urban landscape. Architectural heritage involves multidisciplinary perspectives and
collaborations which demonstrate expertise in science, culture, and the environment. Continuity
and change have become crucial considerations when looking at our built environment and
heritage buildings, as evident in recent examples of public health and climate concerns. The Asia-
Pacific landscape especially provides a cross-cultural platform on which developments in
architectural heritage research, education and practice can flourish, allowing ideas exchanged
during the Symposium among universities, museums, and its collaborators to form a foundation
upon which future research can be based.

The sub-themes of the symposium are developed to encourage participants from various related
general
fields to discuss, debate and reflect on:
Architectural heritage as a pedagogical resource
Architectural preservation and documentation on university campuses
Reflections on the changes in approach of the evolving nature of architectural heritage
University archives as research resources
Bequest of estates to universities, donations, and good stewardships
Capacity building in strengthening the social ecosystem in architectural heritage
People-centred approach to conservation
University partnerships with industries in preserving or maintaining heritage sites
New conservation standards, available scientific investigations and technologies
Moral and ethical issues and practices of built heritage
Advocacy and continuity of architectural heritage for future generations Sustainability and heritage development in a world of change (climate change, natural
disasters, and COVID-19)
The symposyum will take place from 13-15 November 2021.
