Staff Spotlight Starting in August, AMS is rolling out a new system
PAGE 3 to recognize, reward and motivate students.
Students can earn "ThunderBucks" for their
Yearly Recap kindness, hard work and other positive behaviors,
and can redeem them for school based rewards.

and then students submitted designs of the new

above, and was created by 7th grade student
Anthony Zoura.
Every month will have a different behavioral focus,
and students will be able to participate in school-
wide celebrations twice a quarter for meeting
behavioral, academic and grade expectations. We
are excited to find more ways to recognize our
amazing students.

Congratulations to the students who were
chosen for 4th quarter. The focus for 4th
quarter was on identifying students who have
stood out all year for their hard work, kindness,
persistence and engagement. We are lucky to
have so many outstanding students at AMS, and
choosing only one from each team is extremely
difficult. Congrats again to the winners!

Graduate Spotlight: Jamie Daube
Q: Favorite AMS Teacher?
A: My favorite teacher is Ms. LG
because she is so kind, positive and
cares so much about all of her
students!
Q: Future High School?
A: Maine West High School.
Q: Post-High School Plans?
A: Right now, my plan is to teach
younger kids! I love working with little
kids, I think they are super fun!
Q: Advice to 6th grader?
A: Do what you want to do. Dont
sacrifice what you love to fit in with a
group!
Staff Spotlight: Diana Addante
Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-
Whitewater in 1993. I officially started my career
here at AMS in 1995 and have proudly taught here
for 26 years, mainly as an 8th grade ELA teacher.
Q: What is your biggest pet peeve?
A: When people speak loudly in a restaurant.
Q: If you had one day to yourself, how would you
spend it?
A: I would get a workout in, watch my own children
play sports, go eat some good Italian food with the
family, and then watch a Hallmark movie.
Q: What is your best memory at AMS?
A: Every year the students and staff make being at
AMS memorable. Some highlights are the ten years I
did the Academy Awards with two colleagues,
Poetry Slams, and the field trips. I loved the staff vs
students volleyball or basketball games.

I can honestly say that this year was unlike any previous August 25th-Open House
year, but it was still successful. From the uncertainty of (tentative)
August to the excitement of May, the year has had far
more ups than downs. The success of the school year is
directly tied to the efforts of the students and staff of
AMS, who didn't let distance, challenges of technology
and more prevent them from building positive
relationships, exceeding already high standards and
navigating the difficulties of school behind a screen or
in a mask.
I am also proud of the efforts of the behind-the-scenes
people who make this school function on a daily basis:
those who scan forms and check temperatures every
morning at the doors, our custodians who clean
classrooms and lunch spaces constantly, and our
administrative assistants who help the school run as
smoothly as possible in a COVID-world.
I am thankful for the efforts of our parents, who support
both students at school and in home, who volunteer for
the PTO, who donate their time and efforts to help their
child succeed while also working full time jobs. Never
before has the partnership between home and school
been so essential. Have a great summer, and Im excited
to see everyone in August.

Felicitaciones a los estudiantes que fueron
elegidos para el 4º trimestre. El enfoque para el
cuarto trimestre fue identificar a los
estudiantes que han resaltado durante todo el
año por su arduo trabajo, amabilidad,
perseverancia y compromiso. Tenemos la suerte
de tener tantos estudiantes sobresalientes en
AMS, y elegir solo uno de cada equipo es
extremadamente difícil. ¡Felicidades de nuevo a
los ganadores!

R: Mi maestra favorita es la Sra. LG porque
es muy amable, positiva y se preocupa
mucho por todos sus estudiantes.

R: Escuela secundaria de Maine West.

2020-2021 En Resumen
BY MR. JONES 18 de agosto: primer día de
clases
Puedo decir honestamente que este año fue diferente a
cualquier año anterior, pero aún así fue exitoso. Desde la
incertidumbre de agosto hasta la emoción de mayo, el año ha 25 de agosto- casa abierta
tenido muchos más altibajos. El éxito del año escolar está
directamente relacionado con los esfuerzos de los
estudiantes y el personal de AMS, quienes no dejaron que la
distancia, los desafíos de la tecnología y más les impidan
construir relaciones positivas, superando los ya altos
estándares y navegando por las dificultades de la escuela.

También estoy orgulloso de los esfuerzos de las personas
detrás de escena que hacen que esta escuela funcione a
diario: aquellos que escanean formularios y controlan la
temperatura todas las mañanas en las puertas, Nuestros
custodios que limpian los salones y los espacios de almuerzo
constantemente, y nuestros asistentes administrativas que
ayudan a que la escuela funcione de la mejor manera posible
en un mundo COVID.
Estoy agradecido por los esfuerzos de nuestros padres, que
apoyan tanto a los estudiantes en la escuela como en el
hogar, que se ofrecen como voluntarios para el PTO, que
donan su tiempo y esfuerzos para ayudar a sus hijos a tener
éxito mientras también trabajan en trabajos de tiempo
completo. Nunca antes la asociación entre el hogar y la
escuela había sido tan esencial. Que tengan un gran verano y
estoy emocionado de verlos a todos en agosto.
