Dear Parents, Research from the National Center for Summer Learning at Johns Hopkins University tells us that every child will lose school year learning over the summer months. Children will lose 1-2 months of math skills and 1-3 months of reading skills. The Early Learning Team has developed a summer Family Field Trip program for your family. This program is free. No transportation is provided. For each week of summer the Early Learning Team will meet your family at a community location and provide a fun and exciting learning activity. These activities are circled. These activities will help maintain your child’s school year learning over the summer. It will give your child the chance to practice and keep the skills he/she has worked hard to achieve all school year. The summer Family Field Trip program is divided into 9 weeks of activities. Each week will focus on reading, math, science, or technology. All weeks will include fun, imagination, exploration and wonder. Attend as many weeks as you can. Each week families will receive materials to take home that will continue to build your child’s confidence and skills. We are excited to help you to support your child’s learning over the summer. Don’t take a vacation from learning! Come and join us to stop summer brain drain. We are available to answer any questions regarding the program. Learning at Home
Your home is your child’s first learning environment. You
can show your child that learning and fun go together!
Getting dressed, eating, playing and doing laundry are all

This conversation will help to build your child’s vocabulary. Have your child help you make a list of stops your need to make. Have your child draw pictures for the stops. At the grocery store have your child pick a new fruit or vegetable to try. Point out the similarities and differences in things you see. Visit the library with your child.

Este programa es gratis. No se provee transportación. Por cada semana de verano el Equipo de Temprano Aprendizaje se reunirá con su familia en una localización comunitaria y proveerá una actividad divertida y excitante aprendizaje. Estas actividades ayudarán a mantener a su niño lo aprendiendo durante el año escolar durante el verano. Esto le dará a su niño una oportunidad de practicar las destrezas que él/ella ha trabajado fuerte para lograrlo todo el año escolar. El programa del Viaje Escolar de Verano para la Familia está dividido en 9 semanas de actividades. Cada semana será enfocada en lectura, matemáticas, ciencias o tecnología. Todas las semanas incluirán diversión, imaginación, exploración y maravilloso. Asista las más semanas que pueda. Cada semana las familias recibirán materiales que se podrán llevar a la casa, que continuaran desarrollando la confianza y destrezas de su niño. Nosotros estamos entusiasmados en ayudarles y apoyarlos en el aprendizaje de su niño durante el verano. ¡No tome vacaciones durante el tiempo de aprendizaje!
