Pastor’s Corner
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.” Jesus’ words to us this last
Sunday reveal his extraordinary intention for us as his people. Jesus wants to transform us by
introducing something from beyond our scope, from beyond our own parameters.
Our culture assumes we have to live by our own efforts, that life is only as good as our ability
allows us. As individuals and families attempting to live under that burden, we’re familiar with
having our horizons collapsed to those secular restrictions.
In contrast, what our God intends for our parish here at Saint Isidore’s is an outpouring of
grace, vision and inspiration through his limitless life flooding into each of our souls.
As we celebrate Pentecost today, God presents each of us with the challenge and question: will
we continue to limp along by our own insights, with our vision defined by the chattering voices
of the world around us, or will we open our hearts to a vigor, a joy, a strength from on high that
dislodges us from the malaise of our world?
Hear the voice of Jesus as he promises transformation. Accept his call back to the life flowing
from his pierced heart, from the intention of our Father. The Holy Spirit can flood you with
power: do not remain separated from God’s grace.

"Recibirás poder cuando el Espíritu Santo venga sobre ti." Las palabras de Jesús a nosotros este último Domingo revelan
su extraordinaria intención para nosotros como Su pueblo. Jesús quiere transformarnos introduciendo algo que está más
allá de nuestro alcance, de nuestros propios parámetros.
Nuestra cultura asume que tenemos que vivir por nuestro propio esfuerzo, que la vida es tan buena como nuestra
capacidad nos lo permite. Como individuos y como familias que intentan vivir bajo esa carga, estamos familiarizados con
el colapso de nuestros horizontes ante esas restricciones seculares.
En contraste, lo que nuestro Dios quiere para nuestra parroquia aquí en San Isidro es un derramamiento de gracia, visión
e inspiración a través de su vida ilimitada que inunda cada una de nuestras almas.
Al celebrar hoy el Pentecostés, Dios nos presenta a cada uno de nosotros el desafío y la pregunta: ¿continuaremos
cojeando por nuestras propias percepciones, con nuestra visión definida por las voces del mundo que nos rodean, o
abriremos nuestros corazones ¿Un vigor, una alegría, una fuerza de lo alto que nos desaloja del malestar de nuestro
mundo?
Escuche la voz de Jesús mientras promete transformación. Acepta Su llamado de regresar a la vida que brota de Su
corazón traspasado, de la intención de nuestro Padre. El Espíritu Santo puede inundarte de poder: no te quedes separado
de la gracia de Dios.

The History of the Five First Saturdays of the Month
On the 13th May 1917, Our Lady first mentioned
devotion to her Immaculate Heart to the children of

An invitation to everyone to pray every Wednesday

Perpetual Help in asking for assistance and show our
love for her. As long as we approach her as we do to
her Son Jesus, we can count on her aid and guidance.
Mary’s last spoken words in the Gospels concerned
her Son when she said at the Wedding Feast of Cana.
“Do whatever he tells you” (John2:5). She provides
strength, comfort and even miracles to the faithful for
centuries. If we persevere in our intention to do
Christ’s will for us, we are doing hers as well.
