August 2020
Hello Mariner Families!
The faculty and staff welcome all of our new and returning students to the new school
year!! We are glad that you will be part of continuing our journey as a Leader in Me
school. Our staff has been working diligently to make sure Mintz is a special place to
be! The excitement is growing and we are anxious for the first day of school on
Monday, August 24, 2020. As you have likely heard, all of our students will be learning
from home during the first week of school, August 24-28. On Monday, August 31, we
will welcome our On Site learners to campus, while our eLearning students will
continue at home. Whether you will be joining us on campus or eLearning from home,
we want all of our students and their families to feel they are a part of our school
community.
School hours will be 7:40 AM 1:55 PM with free breakfast being served from 7:10 -
7:40 AM. It is important that students DO NOT come to school prior to 7:10 AM, unless
they are registered with the BSAC program. Students participating in eLearning will be
working the same hours as the students who are here on site. If your child qualifies for
free/reduced price lunch and will be participating in eLearning for the first semester,
details on grab & go meals will be coming. In both cases, Mondays are designated as
Early Release with dismissal time set at 12:55 PM.
Our annual Meet the Teacher will be conducted in 2 phases this year. For now,
please find your child s teacher in our Faculty & Staff Directory. There you will find a
recorded welcome message from your teacher. Within the first week of school, the
teachers will each be scheduling a Zoom session so you will be able to meet your
teacher in person . The placement team has spent many hours determining his her
placement for the 2020-2021 school year. I know that with your support, your child will
have a successful and challenging year.

Website: http://mintz.mysdhc.org School District Main Office: 813-272-4000There have been several changes in our day-to-day operations in light of current CDC guidelines. At this time, there are no visitors permitted on our campus, except by appointment only. Other changes this year mean that adults will not be permitted to walk students to class or come on campus for lunch. Students must wear masks while they are on campus during the school day, with exceptions in place like lunch and socially distanced outdoor play. For safety purposes all water fountains have been disabled. We ask that you send a bottle of water to school with your child each day until we have touchless bottle filling stations installed. We want to be as prepared as possible for a smooth on campus opening on August 31. Please help us by completing our online survey to indicate how your children will be going home each day. Please visit https://tinyurl.com/homemintz to complete a dismissal survey. It will help us get carline tags and other dismissal procedures ready. Car riders will continue to be dropped off in the main faculty parking lot. Our front parking lot is reserved for school buses and daycare providers during arrival and dismissal each day. During the course of the school ear e cannot change a child s regular dismissal procedure without written notification from you. The office staff cannot take changes over the phone, nor can a teacher make changes based upon the child s verbal message only. IMPORTANT REMINDER We are a closed campus. All visitors to our campus must enter through the main office and present a valid driver license or state-issued ID. Despite all the changes to our regular campus and learning routine, I look forward to working with both you and your children as we embark upon the 2020 2021 school year. Mintz has a solid reputation in our community, and it is my goal to continue to raise our standards for excellence in your child s education. I am very glad to be seeing learners on our campus, and I will be seeing our eMariners virtually. Our Leader in Me leadership skills will only benefit our learners in these changing times. Agosto de 2020
¡Hola Familias Mariner!
