                 The Sacred Paschal Triduum

The liturgies of Holy Week are the most solemn and sacred events of the entire Church
year. During this week, we enter into the paschal mystery in a powerful way. We are not
merely remembering or reenacting the events that brought about our salvation. Rather,
 each Holy Week liturgy draws us into the passion, death, and resurrection of Our Lord,
 Jesus Christ, imparting to us the grace of those events and calling us to conversion of
 heart so that we may become better reflections of Christ’s victory over sin and death.

Las liturgias de la Semana Santa son los eventos más solemnes y sagrados de todo el
año de la Iglesia. Durante esta semana, entramos en el misterio pascual de una manera
 poderosa. No estamos simplemente recordando o recreando los eventos que trajeron
  nuestra salvación. Más bien, cada liturgia de la Semana Santa nos lleva a la pasión,
 muerte y resurrección de Nuestro Señor, Jesucristo, impartiéndonos la gracia de esos
  eventos y llamándonos a la conversión del corazón para que podamos ser mejores
               reflejos de la victoria de Cristo sobre el pecado y muerte.

The Resurrection of the Lord
             The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night

The pinnacle of Holy Week is the Easter Vigil Mass. By most ancient tradition, this is the
night of keeping vigil for the Lord (Exodus 12:42). During this Mass, the Paschal Candle
 is lit. It is symbolic of Christ’s resurrection and as the Light of the World. The readings
recount the history of salvation. The baptismal waters are blessed, and the Sacraments
  of Initiation are conferred on those in the process of the Rite of Christian Initiation of
                                           Adults.

          La Vigilia Pascual en la noche santa

El pináculo de la Samana Santa es la Misa de la Vigilia Pascual. Según la tradición más
antigua, esta es la noche de vigilia del Señor (Éxodo 12:14). Durante esta Misa, se
enciendo el Cirio. Es un símbolo de la resurrección y de Cristo como la Luz del Mundo.
Las lecturas relatan la historia de la salvación. Las aguas bautismales son bendecidas y
los Sacramentos de Iniciación se confieren a aquellos en el proceso del Rito de
Iniciación Cristiana de Adultos.
