Welcome Back, Ponder Panthers!
It has been a fantastic summer, and we are very excited to see our
kiddos walk back through the front door! It will be great to start the
new year in our new building, as the last two years have involved The
Move, and now that is behind us! I know the teachers are pumped
and ready to begin 2015-2016!
And hey, here’s some great news: TEA announced last week that Alice
Ponder earned FOUR STAR DISTINCTIONS based on our test results
from last year (and we were only eligible for four)! That means we
Alice Ponder Elementary have earned 9 starts out of 9 over the last two years! That says a lot

¡Bienvenidos de regreso, Panteras de Ponder!
¡Ha sido un verano fantástico, y estamos muy emocionados de ver
nuestros niños caminar de regreso por la puerta ancha! Será genial
empezar el nuevo año en nuestro nuevo edificio, ya que los dos
últimos años han incluido una mudanza, y ahora esa transición está
detrás de nosotros. ¡Sé que los maestros están emocionados y listos
para comenzar el año 2015-2016!
Y bueno, aquí otra gran noticia: ¡TEA anunció la semana pasada que
Alice Ponder ganó CUATRO DISTINCIONES ESTRELLAS basadas en los
Alice Ponder Elementary resultados de las pruebas del año pasado (y éramos elegibles
101 Pleasant Ridge Drive solamente para cuatro)! ¡Esto significa que nos hemos ganado 9

Information Technology
Educator) at Alice Ponder.
I’ve been privileged to work
at Ponder for 8 years, and I feel
blessed to work at an amazing
school where all three of my

ponder.mansfieldisd.org and find answers to their questions. I feel like I have the best job in
our school because l get to read to your child each week. Story time is
my favorite time whether it is singing nursery rhymes with Pre-K,
researching squirrels with 1st grade, or exploring which book will win
the Bluebonnet award for our school with our third and fourth
graders. I always want the library to be a place where students and
parents feel welcome, and I hope that your child looks forward to
library time as much as I look forward to having them there.

grado, o explorar qué libro va a ganar el premio Bluebonnet en
nuestra escuela con nuestros alumnos de tercero y cuarto. Yo siempre
quiero que la biblioteca sea un lugar donde los estudiantes y padres
de familia se sientan bienvenidos, y espero que su hijo espere este
tiempo en la biblioteca con ansia y alegría.

Your 2014-15 Ponder PTA Board would like to take a moment of your
time to BRAG about our accomplishments. Thanks to your dues,
participation, and caring we have been able to do the following:
• Provide funding for field trip for each grade level
• 4th grade field trip to Austin
• Paid for ½ of AR
• Sell Smart Snacks on Wednesdays
• Provide treats for participating students after musicals
• Provide bounce houses on field day

• Teacher Appreciation (luncheon and gifts)
• Sponsored several Spirit Nights
• Organize room parents and assist in holiday parties
• Provide Spirit Wear for purchase by faculty, students, and

And while these things are all wonderful achievements on their own,
Ponder was only elementary school in MISD to receive all 5
distinctions that we were eligible for:
• Academic Achievement in Reading/ELA
• Academic Achievement in Mathematics
• Top 25 Percent Student Progress

PTA… ¿Alguna vez se ha preguntado?
La Asociación de Padres y Maestros de Ponder del año 2014-15
quisiera tomar un momento para presumir acerca de los logros de la
asociación. Gracias a sus pagos de membrecía, su participación,
apoyo, hemos podido lograr lo siguiente:
• Proveer fondos para excursiones para cada grado
• Enviar a nuestros estudiantes de 4to grado a una excursión a
la capital de Texas
• Pagar la mitad del programa de lectores avanzados
• Proveer regalitos a los estudiantes participantes después de

• Proveer flautas para los estudiantes de 4to grado
• Premiar a un estudiante una beca de $500 para sus estudios
• Organizar oportunidades para involucrarse en la comunidad
como: El Closet de Ropa del MISD

• Organizar almuerzo y regalos en apreciación para los
maestros
• Organizar a los padres del salón y ayudar con las fiestas

Todo estos son logros maravillosos, y Ponder es la única escuela
primaria en el distrito de Mansfield que recibió las 5 distinciones para
las cuales son elegibles:
• Logros Académicos en Lectura y Artes del Lenguaje
• Logros Académicos en Matemáticas
• 25% de Progreso Académico
• 25% en cerrar las perdidas académicas
