After a long journey during the Diploma Programme through CAS, the students of 2DP
have completed their official CAS presentations. Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) is a
mandatory core component of the IB Diploma Programme. The CAS requirement is a
fundamental part of the programme and takes seriously the importance of life outside the
world of academia, providing a refreshing counterbalance to academic studies.
Our DP2 students presented in front of the rest of the class the different experiences that
they have been living these two years; an average of 14 experiences of Creativity, Activity
and Service per student where they have demonstrated and developed essential skills for
their future and which have also led them to become better people, more supportive,
committed and responsible with our society and our planet. A huge thanks to Carlos (Head
of CAS and PE) for organising the day and for all his support and guidance with our
Diploma students.
Después de un largo viaje durante el Programa del Diploma a través de CAS, los alumnos de
2DP han completado sus presentaciones oficiales Creatividad, Actividad, Servicio (CAS),
componente básico obligatorio del Programa del Diploma del IB. El requisito de CAS es una
parte fundamental del programa y toma en serio la importancia de la vida fuera del mundo
académico, proporcionando un refrescante contrapeso a los estudios académicos.
Nuestros alumnos de DP2 expusieron ante el resto de la clase las diferentes experiencias
que han vivido estos dos años; una media de 14 experiencias de Creatividad, Actividad y
Servicio por alumno donde han demostrado y desarrollado habilidades esenciales para su
futuro y que además les han llevado a ser mejores personas, más solidarias,
comprometidas y responsables con nuestra sociedad y nuestro planeta. Un enorme
agradecimiento a Carlos (Responsable CAS y Educación Física) por la organización de la
jornada y por todo su apoyo y orientación con nuestros alumnos del Diploma.

A huge thank you to Bernard (our Business/ Economic Diploma teacher and EE guru) and to the
librarians Manuel and Mario for presenting and leading on this event.
As ever, February brings the beginning of the Extended Essay process for our 1º Diploma students.
The Extended Essya forms one of the three core parts of the programme and is intended to equip
students with the investigative skills that they will require throughout university. As such the focus
was very much on how to carry out effective research, the importance of academic honesty and the
planning of a task that will take approximately 9 months to carry out.
Many thanks to our librarians, Mario Calderón and Manuel Bellón, as well as Pedro Pablo Fernández
from the Humanities department for taking the time to organise such effective workshops which we
are sure will benefit our students as they begin this challenging but hugely rewarding task.
Como siempre, febrero trae el comienzo del proceso de la Monografía para nuestros estudiantes de
1º Diploma. La monografía forma una de las tres partes centrales del programa y está destinada a
equipar a los estudiantes con las habilidades de investigación que necesitarán durante la
universidad. Como tal, el enfoque estuvo mucho en cómo llevar a cabo una investigación efectiva, la
importancia de la honestidad académica y la planificación de una tarea que tomará
aproximadamente 9 meses para llevar a cabo.
Muchas gracias a nuestros bibliotecarios, Mario Calderón y Manuel Bellón, así como a Pedro Pablo
Fernández del departamento de Humanidades por tomarse el tiempo de organizar talleres tan
efectivos que estamos seguros beneficiarán a nuestros estudiantes al comenzar esta tarea desafiante
pero enormemente gratificante
SWIMMING / TRIATHLON
Last Saturday, our students of the triathlon and swimming team that we run jointly with the
Monteverde Club, had their first experience in competition thanks to the time trial organised by the
Castilla la Mancha Swimming Federation and the JCCM's Somos Deporte 3-18 Programme that took
place in the Salto del Caballo Swimming Pool in Toledo.

El pasado sábado, nuestros alumnos del equipo de triatlón y natación que llevamos de manera conjunta con el
Club Monteverde, tuvieron su primera experiencia en competición gracias a la toma de tiempos organizada
por la Federación de Natación de Castilla la Mancha y el Programa Somos Deporte 3-18 de la JCCM que tuvo
lugar en la Piscina del Salto del Caballo de Toledo

Ski Fly Toledo This weekend our boarding students were able to enjoy the longest urban zip line in Europe. Crossing the Tagus River with the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes or the bridge as luxury spectators is an experience that our students could not miss. Before they each did the zipline there were nerves and many doubts, but once they were hanging and flying over the Tagus, the activity goes by too quickly and you are left wanting much more. A spectacular morning where we enjoy our city in a different way. To end the weekend, we were able to taste a typical Italian dinner, where our students Azzurra, Riccardo and Sophie told us a little more about their country, its culture and its gastronomy, to later savor delicious dishes and an exquisite tiramisu. Este fin de semana nuestros estudiantes han podido disfrutar de la tirolina urbana más larga de Europa. Cruzar el río Tajo con el Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes o el puente como espectadores de lujo, es una experiencia que nuestros alumnos no podían dejar pasar. Antes de salar hubo nervios y muchas dudas, pero una vez que estaban colgados y sobrevolando el Tajo, el recorrido se hace corto y te quedas con ganas de mucho más. VISIT TO THE CHEESEMAKERS
As an activity to motivate our students in 2nd PYP
who are studying “How the world works” unit of
inquiry, the 2nd PYP students went on a trip to the
“Cerrucos de Kanama Artisan Cheese Shop” in Los
Navalucillos. The students took part a fresh cheese
making workshop, where they enjoyed themselves,
had a great time and learned how to make cheese. In
addition, they were able to see the facilities of the
cheese factory and they were given a taste of the
cheese they make there. It was a beautiful day for our
students.
Como actividad motivadora de la unidad “Cómo
funciona el mundo”, los alumnos de 2º PEP realizaron
una salida a la “Quesería Artesana Cerrucos de
Kanama” en Los Navalucillos. Los alumnos tuvieron
un taller de elaboración de queso fresco, donde
disfrutaron, se lo pasaron genial y aprendieron a
hacer queso. Además, pudieron ver las instalaciones
de la quesería y les dieron a probar el queso que
elaboran allí. Fue un bonito día para nuestros
alumnos.
Finally, can I make a request that we are respectful in the school parking area when we
drop off and pick up students. As you are probably aware, this week we received some
complaints regarding dangerous parking and driving and obviously being a school our
parking area has very small students passing through. Please can we ensure that we are
respectful of each other and that we use the car park sensibly, that we drive at the
appropriate speed and that we keep an eye out for our little ones. I am sure as a
community that I can count on your understanding and support in this matter. We are
lucky as a school to have a big car park, my previous school in Singapore did not have
this facility, so let's use it in collaboration together. Thanks.

Por último, me gustaría pedirles que sean respetuosos en la zona de aparcamiento del
colegio cuando dejen y recojan a los alumnos. Como probablemente sepan, esta semana
hemos recibido algunas quejas sobre el peligro de aparcar y conducir y, obviamente, al
tratarse de un colegio, por nuestra zona de aparcamiento pasan alumnos muy pequeños.
Por favor, asegurémonos de que somos respetuosos con los demás y de que utilizamos el
aparcamiento con sensatez, de que conducimos a la velocidad adecuada y de que
estamos atentos a nuestros pequeños. Estoy seguro de que, como comunidad, puedo
contar con su comprensión y apoyo en este asunto. Tenemos la suerte de contar con un
gran aparcamiento, ya que mi anterior colegio en Singapur no disponía de estas
instalaciones, así que usémoslas en colaboración. Gracias.
