Make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit! As rational people, we
tend to instinctively reject those type of experiences we cannot fully comprehend; because of our western education is prominently
based on reason, we tend to search for facts and clear ideas that will fully support our sense of reality. Why? How? Where? Whom?
What for? etc. are common questions in our daily existence, not being able to provide an adequate answer to any of these expressions
move us to disregard or at least consider as not valid certain facts in life. Contemporary human beings are trained to automatically reject
any fact that cannot be proven via the scientific method and to our disadvantage, we hardly understand how in refusing to make
“mystery” part of our experience and embracing it as a worth living experience, we are bearing life from its magical aspect, its colorful
expression and its mystical phase.
Today in the Church, we are celebrating the Most Holy Trinity, which is another way of saying today the Church is inviting
believers to enter the mystery of the Godhead in order to taste the fullness of divine Graces. In celebrating God as Father, Son and Holy
Spirit, we are invited to embrace and somehow understand the possibility of an Almighty Force that holds the rains to human history
while procuring the fulfillment of all Creation. As disciples of Jesus of Nazareth, we are provided with the amazing Grace of Revelation,
which means in Christ all of His disciples can have a glimpse of God’s very own nature. Because of Jesus’ life and actions so well de-
scribed in the Gospel, aided by the Church’s teachings (Magisterium) and supported in our Christian Tradition we all can say in very
simplistic terms that God is to be seen / understood as Father, Son and Holy Spirit… Of course the reality of such a tremendous and
fascinating mystery will always go beyond our human expressions or even our limited capacity of understanding, however in becoming
one of us in Jesus of Nazareth, the human race is blessed with the possibility to grasp at least in a very superficial way the depts. of
God’s existence.
Let us hope that in celebrating the Most Holy Trinity this day, we may be able to experience God as a possibility at hand. May
each one of us gather the necessary courage to enter the divine mystery and fully enjoy the fullness of God’s Graces.

ofrece la posibilidad de definir adecuadamente nuestra relación con El.
Como seguidores de Jesucristo, inspirados en la Revelación que Dios ha hecho de sí mismo en Jesús de Nazaret su Unigénito,
auxiliados con lo que encontramos en el Evangelio y apoyados en el Magisterio (enseñanza) de la Iglesia y la Tradición Cristiana pode-
mos decir que el inalcanzable misterio de Dios ha quedado accesible a nuestro intelecto cuando lo nombramos como Padre, Hijo y Espí-
ritu Santo. Sabemos que Dios siempre ira más allá de lo que nosotros como seres humanos podamos definir, pues la realidad divina nun-
ca podrá ser encerrada en nuestra limitada capacidad intelectual, sin embargo porque sabemos que en Cristo Dios se ha hecho accesible
a nuestra naturaleza, nos descubrimos agraciados con la manera como la Iglesia ha ido concretizando esa inalcanzable realidad Divina
para ponerla a nuestro alcance. La Santísima Trinidad es la manera como el ser humano es capaz de mejor asimilar la inabordable reali-
dad de Dios, sabemos que siempre habrá algo más allá, estamos conscientes que nunca seremos capaces de encerrar a Dios en términos
o expresiones humanas, sin embargo, nuestro corazón se eleva en Acción de Gracias porque en la Fiesta de hoy lo descubrimos algo
concreto y accesible.
Al celebrar este Domingo la Fiesta de Dios en el augusto título de la Santísima Trinidad, agradecemos que por medio de la
Revelación, el Altísimo haya querido hacernos parte de su misterio inalcanzable. Que la posibilidad de dejarnos fascinar con Dios anime
nuestro caminar de Fe y nos haga saborear con plenitud el anhelo divino de Salvación para nuestra humanidad doliente.

colori! Lo stesso avviene per il mistero della Trinità: troppe volte si rischia di ridurre ad una fredda astrazione quello che dovrebbe esse-
re il centro sfavillante di cui si sprigiona la nostra vita. Perché questo mistero illumini la nostra esistenza dobbiamo accostarci ad esso
assieme a Cristo.
Siamo tanto piccoli e fragili sulla terra, su questo frammento di argilla da cui l’umanità guarda verso le stelle inaccessibili! Ma un giorno
è venuto qualcuno, e ha aperto un varco sull’orizzonte degli uomini. La sua azione aveva la forza serena della luce all’alba, la sua parola
una potenza che rialzava e metteva in cammino anche coloro a cui tutto sembrava finito. Tuttavia egli non riconduceva alla propria per-

Il Dio Uno e Trino.
Oggi celebriamo il mistero del nostro Dio, Uno e Trino. Tre persone, Dio Padre, Dio Figlio e Dio Spirito San-
to, in un'unica natura, nell'unità perfetta, in una reciproca relazione di amore. È il Dio inaccessibile alla nostra

la Trinità. Il buon cristiano inizia la sua giornata, ogni sua preghiera, ogni sua azione nel nome del Padre, del
Figlio e dello Spirito Santo. Dal battesimo alla morte la nostra esistenza è contrassegnata dal sigillo della san-
tissima Trinità. Così ciascuno di noi lega il cielo alla terra e la terra al cielo. Così il mistero, che tale sempre
rimane, si svela nell'intimità della comunione. «Se uno mi ama, osserverà la mia parola e il Padre mio lo amerà

Estamos en un viaje largo y lleno de aconteci-
mientos. Las lecturas de hoy para el Domingo de la
Santísima Trinidad cubren sucintamente la profun-
didad y la amplitud de nuestros viajes humanos.
Los comienzos de nuestro viaje se revelan en la
lectura de Proverbios. El plan de Dios lleno de sa-
biduría divina nació antes de que la tierra existiera.
En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús habla de su propio
viaje personal. Él ha venido del Padre y volverá al
Padre. Sólo en ese momento el Paráclito –el Espíri-
tu de la Verdad– nos llevará hacia adelante.
Esto no disminuye la dificultad del viaje. El
contexto mismo del Evangelio es la noche antes de
la muerte de Jesús. Como san Pablo les escribe a
los romanos, “Nos gloriamos hasta de los sufri-
mientos, pues sabemos que el sufrimiento engendra
la paciencia, la paciencia engendra la virtud sólida,
la virtud sólida engendra la esperanza” (Romanos
5:3-4).
En última instancia, nuestro viaje humano está
modelado por la Santísima Trinidad –una familia
de amor entre el Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu que
todos somos llamados a emular.

A BANANA AND THE TRINITY
My favorite religion teacher in grammar school would often use everyday items to explain a term particularly difficult for
us to grasp. When it came to describing the reality of the Holy Trinity, we were all surprised to see her hold up a banana at the front
of the room. She peeled back the skin of the banana and sliced a half-inch thick piece from the center of the banana. She began to
slowly roll the slice back and forth between her fingers and our eyes nearly popped out of our heads when the one slice seemed to
separate magically into three equal sections. She said, “Each section is still a banana, yet each is distinctly taken from the whole ba-
nana.” There was something about this that made sense to each of us, as we struggled to figure out exactly how the Trinity
“worked”—three persons in one God. I remember quite clearly running home that day and trying the exercise on a banana on our
kitchen counter. I sliced that banana into about ten pieces and each time I rolled a slice back and forth in my fingers, behold, three
distinct equal sections fell into my hand.
AWE IN GOD’S PRESENCE
This image has remained with me and reenters my consciousness each time the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most
Holy Trinity. Each year we stand before this mystery. Some of us try to wrap our brains around it. Others simply let the liturgical
celebration pass us by. Perhaps this feast is calling us to do something that we normally don’t do in this world of ours, which is so
full of the practical. This day could simply be calling us to stand in awe at the presence and power of God. Today is the day to be
reminded that ours is an awesome God, who, as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, created us, redeemed us, and continues to break into
