7 th grade continues to sail through the many plot twists and adventures ofTreasure Island. We still haven’t
found the treasure!
They learn about the characteristics of novels and see the work of a master storyteller, Robert Louis
Stevenson. When finished they will explore radio and television dramas with The Lone Ranger followed by
the science fiction classic, The Twilight Zone.
While having fun, they are learning about the hero as an important type of character and how good writers
make us think about life and people. The aim with this grade and the next is to both prepare them for English
I in high school and to enjoy the great stories and writers. Month of Mary Mes de Maria The word “Rosary” means a chain of roses and the roses are prayers. The Rosary Prayer tells us about the life of Jesus and his Mother, Mary. In the Church, the month of October is, by custom, the month of the Rosary but people do use this prayer all the year round. There are four sets of “mysteries” or events from four periods of Jesus’s life. As a prayer, it reminds us that we are never alone when we pray; when we pray we are always helped by the prayers of Our Lady and the saints in heaven as well as the prayers of all the members of the Church. It also teaches the words of the most important prayers. The Rosary Beads are used to help us; they count our prayers and tell us which prayer to say. Students complete monthly assessments to track progress AND to help teachers identify areas of improvement. Teachers use this information to help students during small group lessons and during tutoring. Students can practice at home, too! This is for the safety of students and adults AND in consideration of everyone else trying to pick up. 4-Do not block driveways/parking lot entrance/exit. 5-No cell phones should be used when driving in the parking lot; focus should be on driving and making sure everyone around you is safe. 6-Watch your speed. Sometimes students and adults aren't paying attention and walk out without looking. 7-Students must be picked up on time in order to continue participation in extra-curricular activities. The adults leading these activities are volunteers. This is not free daycare but carefully constructed activities designed to benefit the student. Please be respectful of the time commitment!!! THANK YOU FOR DOING YOUR PART TO KEEP OUR COMMUNITY SAFE!!
