De Nuestro Párroco Mi Querida Familia Parroquial, Me complace informarles que tendremos un seminarista este verano. Su nombre es Ben Thomsen. Esto es lo que Ben tiene que decir sobre sí mismo: "Nací en Decatur Georgia. Después de haber estado en Japón y Australia en mi infancia, regresé a los Estados Unidos para la primaria tardía hasta la escuela secundaria. Asistí por primera vez a la Universidad Baylor en Texas, y terminé mi licenciatura en la Universidad de Georgia en Athens. En la Universidad, me convertí al catolicismo y desarrollé un fuerte amor por la filosofía. Por favor, preséntate con él y dale una calurosa bienvenida a San Lorenzo cuando tengas la oportunidad de conocerlo. Además, mientras celebramos la Fiesta del Corpus Christi (el Misterio del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Jesucristo) los invito a que te unas a participar en una misa bilingüe al aire libre y procesión eucarística el sábado 5 de junio de 2021 a las 5:00 p.m. en el parqueadero norte. Te pido que traigas tus sillas portátiles si así lo puedes. También pondremos algunas sillas extras para aquellos que puedan necesitarlas. Por supuesto, estos planes están pendientes con la cooperación del clima. Hay una gran crisis en la iglesia sobre la fe y creer en la Santa Eucaristía como la verdadera presencia de Cristo. La iglesia y, de hecho, el mundo entero necesita urgentemente la renovación Eucarística. Antes de que Jesús fuera al cielo, nos encargó ir al mundo entero y proclamar las buenas noticias. My dear parish family,
I am happy to inform you that we shall be getting a seminarian this summer. His name is Ben Thomsen.
Here is what Ben had to say about himself:
"I was born in Decatur Georgia. After moving to Japan and Australia in
my childhood, I returned to the U.S. for late elementary through high
school. I first attended Baylor University in Texas, and finished my
undergraduate at the University of Georgia in Athens. At the
University, I converted to Catholicism and developed a strong love for
philosophy. Upon completing my 4 year degree I entered the
University of Georgia's School of Law where I earned my J.D. For 3
years prior to entering seminary I was a trial attorney for the State of
Georgia as an Assistant District Attorney in the Griffin Judicial Circuit. I
have since been studying at Mundelein Seminary in Chicago and
have one year remaining. I will be ordained a deacon May 29th of
this year."
We congratulate Ben on his upcoming diaconate ordination and we
pray that he finds fulfilment and peace in his ministry. His assignment in
the parish will be effective on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Please introduce yourself to him and welcome him
when you get a chance to meet him.
In addition, as we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi (the Mystery of the Body and Blood of Jesus
Christ) I invite you to join us for an Outdoor Bilingual Mass and Eucharistic procession on Saturday, June
5, 2021 at 5pm on the north parking lot. I ask you to bring your lawn chairs if you can. We shall also put
some chairs out for those who might need them. Of course, these plans are pending on the
cooperation of the weather. There is a great crisis in the church on the faith and believe in the Holy
Eucharist as the True Presence of Christ. The Church and indeed the entire world are in dire need of
Eucharistic renewal. Before Jesus went to heaven, he commissioned us to go into the whole world and
proclaim the Good News. This command can only be fulfilled effectively through a meaningful and
profound connection to the Holy Eucharist because the good news is only as good as much as Jesus is
at the heart of it. Therefore, this time of Eucharistic renewal is a moment of grace because it gives us
the opportunity to reclaim the presence of our loving God who is always present to us in the Holy
Eucharist; but also we are able to share him with a world that may sometimes seem confused, hurting
and directionless.
This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. It comes 50 (fifty) days after Easter Sunday and this brings the Easter
season to a close. At Pentecost, Jesus sent the Holy Spirit, the Advocate to the Apostles, to enable
them to carry out the mandate that he had entrusted to them. As we celebrate Pentecost, we pray
together to the Holy Spirit:
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your
Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.
O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same
Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

The Gift of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit’s role is essential to each and every follower of Jesus. Without the Spirit’s
presence as a teacher, guide, and advocate, we, along with all disciples, would be left alone,
lacking insight and wisdom. It is the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit that activates
our own witnessing to Jesus, leading us to live, teach, and hand on the truth of the faith to
others. Without such assurance and reliance, we would soon lose our way and not remain in
the truth of Jesus. The Holy Spirit is given to all who align themselves as disciples of Jesus, not just
to a privileged few. All who have been baptized have been gifted with the Spirit as their guide
to the truth in the midst of uncertainty and limitations. It is our responsibility to attune ourselves
to the Spirit’s presence and guidance. Developing a deep understanding of the Church’s
teaching and a life of prayer attuned to the Scriptures will enable us to discern the presence
and action of the Spirit in our world. In this fashion, we are led by the Spirit and we witness to,
glorify, and continually explore and develop our relationship with Jesus, and this with God the
Father. How do I continually work on developing a spirituality that is attuned to the action of
the Holy Spirit in my life, making me more adept at discerning the work of the Spirit?

El Don del Espíritu Santo
El papel del Espíritu Santo es esencial para todos y cada uno de
los seguidores de Jesús. Sin la presencia del Espíritu como maestro,
guía y defensor, nosotros, junto con todos los discípulos, nos
quedaríamos solos, carentes de perspicacia y sabiduría. Es la guía
y la inspiración del Espíritu Santo la que activa nuestro propio
testimonio de Jesús, llevándonos a vivir, enseñar y entregar la
verdad de la fe a los demás. Sin esa seguridad y confianza,
perderíamos fácilmente nuestro camino y no permaneceríamos
en la verdad de Jesús. El Espíritu Santo se da a todos los que se
alinean como discípulos de Jesús, no sólo a unos pocos
privilegiados. Todos los que han sido bautizados han sido dotados
con el Espíritu como su guía de la verdad en medio de la
incertidumbre y las limitaciones. Es nuestra responsabilidad
sintonizarnos con la presencia y la guía del Espíritu. Desarrollar una
comprensión profunda de la enseñanza de la Iglesia y una vida
de oración en sintonía con las Escrituras nos permitirá discernir la
